Can't quote but same here Steve. It is why I'd be happy if Lindholm pulls the plug on an extension. If he re-signs I think the focus shifts to players that can help immediately

It may not be a “rebuild”, you still have a core of strong players to build around, but the injection of young, talented prospects will energize the roster and jumpstart what would otherwise take many years to achieve.
They’ll still lack that no.1 overall player to make them a true contender, but it could vault them into the Carolina-type tier pretty quickly.

Just gotta find that Aho-like center. It doesn't always have to be in the first round. Hintz and Aho were 2nd rounders in the deep draft of 2015.

Too many times we didn't get value for good players, as some put it we let them go for nothing. But really we should have lined those players up for better returns even if the mandate was to make the playoffs. Gio, Brodie could have been pieces with good returns.

Regarding Lundell and Jarvis-
Said this before but it's very hard to see teams move out players on ELC for players that are going to make huge UFA money soon. The cap climate is still very tight and even if it bumps next year that's so much money coming in and almost nothing going out. Now if the Flames are willing to take a cap dump to make a trade work then that's another thing.

I like to envision all of the GMs et al in some speakeasy in Nashville smoking cigars and sipping bourbon while they each monitor their fan sites. Craig: “HEY WADDELL!!!! CP thinks we’re sending you Lindholm! Care to float the idea of Jarvis plus to get them really in a lather? This afternoon we can throw cold water on it.” “Hell of an idea Craig! I’ll get our guys to post it to CaniacPuck too.” Stevie Y hears this and says “Now let’s do one for Hanifin!” Adams jumps in “We were here first!” Craig: “Why not both?” They all clink glasses and laugh maniacally. I
I picture them like whatever those monocle wearing things are on the Kayak ads.
(And yes I’m joking)

Agreed. I think we should be backing off expectations of these players now to these types of players ~2 years ago. Not yet proven NHL contributors but not far off.

The Hawks have 37M in cap space with no contracts of consequence to sign. They are littered with draft picks.

It might be the Hawks taking on Hall for not much, maybe a 2nd round pick, to play with Bedard.
Or maybe Cap is so tight these days, Chicago takes on Hall and moves one of their seconds for Boston's 1st round pick.
Boston desperately needs to shed some cap for sure.

Bruins don't have a first this year, but maybe they do 2024. Bruins need to be careful to not become Florida.

Highly unlikely, Boston doesn't have a 1st or 2nd for the next two years

Boston doesn't have a 1st rounder in 2023 or 2024. It would have to be their 2025 1st rounder, but they would be dumb to just empty the cupboard.

In my neck of the woods I am hearing Nylander wants the Huberdeau contract to stay in Toronto. Belief is he has felt underappreciated in Toronto and is pricing himself out of the market.

If accurate, hope the Flames stay far away from this.

I would pay a stupid amount of money if there was a way to get access to all NHL GMs trade and contract discussions.
And Nylander wanting $10M doesn't surprise me at all. If Dubois thinks he's worth $9M then of course he's going to want $10M.
