there's been some rumblings about them having interest in Hanifin, I think. But yeah, that only makes sense for the Flames if they get Lundell IMO.

Would be impressive if the flames can pull Lundell from Florida in exchange for Hanifin. Then trade Lindholm to Carolina for Seth Jarvis. All of a sudden, the flames would have Jarvis, Lundell, and Zary as young, up-and-coming centres in the league. Plus, potentially whoever they pick with their first round pick if they end up taking a centre at that pick. Would make for a short turnaround on the rebuild IMO.
But honestly, I think it will be difficult to get Lundell or Jarvis in trades… let alone both.

I have no hope when it comes to Jarvis.
He looks primed to have a huge break out and doubt Carolina would consider moving him.

the thing with Florida is that they don't have a 1st in the next 3 drafts. On top of that, they didn't have a 1st or 2nd last year, and they also have no 2nd this year and in 25. So what is there to offer? If they don't give up somebody like Lundell, they are not going to land someone like Hanifin.

13th OA / Savoie / Kulich are literally our three best non-roster items though. People really gotta lower expectations on two out of three of those. Guys like Ostlund and Rosen are more likely available options.

I'd actually be ok with Ostlund and Rosen with the 13th. I'd also try to get a buried defensive prospect like Ryan Johnson. From a Buffalo perspective, is that in the wheelhouse?

Same thing with Boston, as one of the other teams historically linked to Hanifin. They have one first round pick over the next 3 years and no 2nd round picks. They really went all in with their current roster.

Yeah, one of Quinn or the 13th overall would make me happy.

Love that Sect214 takes a lot of the guesswork and unfounded assumptions out of discussions o. The board. Treliving often left us in the dark leading to some antagonizing summers on cp. With Conroy it feels like we are creating a market, players are being open and part of the process. I like it.

It's not like the players can mail it in if they aren't traded this summer...they want that $$$$$
Make good deals, don't take less than deadline deals

Yeah Boston is an interesting one because as much as the fit makes sense for Hanifin, I don't see how a trade with Boston is the greatest fit for the Flames without any draft capital involved. Maybe a deal around Zacha/Carlo? They both have M-NTC though.
Unless they have a bunch of prospects ready to jump in, I'd rather deal with teams that have more future's and prospects available. Plus I don't see Boston being too eager to give up Zacha after he finally had his breakout season.

I think those four pieces would be more likely to be in play than Quinn / Peterka / Savoie / Kulich. Krebs maybe in play too, he's a decent young player but hasn't progressed as fast as the others and maybe buried a bit behind Thompson and Cozens. The organization is VERY high on Savoie and Kulich.

I love the idea of jettisoning older players while still at their apex from a value perspective, it’s simply something this organization has never done. The players are forcing their hand, and it’s literally the best thing that could have happened to the organization.
It may not be a “rebuild”, you still have a core of strong players to build around, but the injection of young, talented prospects will energize the roster and jumpstart what would otherwise take many years to achieve.
They’ll still lack that no.1 overall player to make them a true contender, but it could vault them into the Carolina-type tier pretty quickly.
