OMG just watching the local Saturday morning TV with my daughter and the show Play School took two dolls to the bottom of the ocean on a submarine. Could be a coincidence but I’m leaning towards some Aussie humour from the broadcaster.
My daughter picked up my reaction and I tried to change the subject but turns out she’d heard about the Titanic sub at school yesterday anyways.
Octonauts also had a plot with an undersea rescue but didn’t think much of that given that’s like every episode.

Las Vegas business man Jay Bloom was originally scheduled to be on the sub with his 20 year old son, but backed out after safety concerns. Stockton Rush even offered to discount the cost from $250k to $150k. The seats he gave up went to Dawood and and his son.
Now now, according to the media he is presumed dead, not confirmed dead. Just in case he or any of the other passengers managed to withstand the thousands of pounds of pressure the submersible could not.
Did they explain the knocking/banging sound? Presuming the craft suffered it’s demise that first day?
Not really. They just said it was unrelated.
It did occur to me that right now since we really know nothing, the easiest thing to say for the sake of the families is that it imploded without the occupants experiencing any anxiety or stress. They may come up with a different theory once they actually recover items from the scene.
You see this a lot when tragedies happen. The authorities default to the less unpleasant scenario until they actually learn more, at least publicly.

Exactly. No point confirming he’s dead. What’s the rush.
Mexican visitor on a previous trip (he also had his dives cancelled but makes it to the Titanic on another mission on another part). Turn on the subtitles. This trip is on the Horizon Arctic oilfield servicing ship which is a lot nicer than the 1959 ship they started using this season to save money. One of the big problems with servicing the vessel are likely due to the fact that they couldn't work on the sub on the deck anymore and they ended up towing it behind the Polar Prince which is a 64 year old ship. Of course that doesn't solve the problem of the carbon fiber pressure vessel falacy that Stockrush Rush sold himself on.
There is a really good walkthrough of the actual technology of the platform and mechanical principles of the internals by Stockton at around 18 minutes in the video. This is the best explanation of the compressed air ballast system, cameras, syntactic foam, and especially the drop weight system that I've seen in any media.
It's incredible that James Cameron was by far and away the most knowledgeable and in the loop of any one that's spoken about the story since Sunday.
Already knew the outcome days before every one else, and diagnosed the fatal flaw as well.
Cameron is obviously good at film making but he's a legit engineer. Remember he applies his engineering skills to make all manner of things such as ROVs, cameras and other tech. He's also a good artist especially the sketches he did for The Abyss they are amazing.

His recent movie titles may be questionable but that man sure knows the deep sea.
Avatar 2 was damn good I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Yea I know we all wish he would be doing that other franchise but not going to happen.
So sad Cameron didn't somehow get involved and put a stop to this hack of a sub.
