Anyone else find personal attacks on media members cringy and a huge hit to the value of this site?
They are all fair game to disagree with their comments but that was over the top in my mind.

If they don’t want to be here just rip the band aid off and let’s move on.
Canadian market isn’t easy to operate in. Simple as that. The way the league works the only way to operate is to accept the fact you need to tear it down on a cyclical basis. Exploit entry level deals with high end talent and enjoy their RFA years. Once that crop approaches UFA tear down again. Under the current NHL model I don’t see any other options as a Canadian market.

As long as fast track moves aren't made they can call it whatever they want.
I certainly get from a marketing perspective the need to get retool out there over rebuild.

This is so emblematic of the organization's history already that it might as well be engraved in stone next to the dressing room. At least have a little intellectual honesty about it and give the fans some hope for the future.
We saw what happened the last time they wanted to "re-tool." It's shorthand for half-assed attempt to rebuild. I want the whole ass.

I find it funny the same poster was looking down their nose at any humour in the submarine incident thread, when none of those people are likely to ever hear about this site in their lifetime, let alone visit it, but is totally happy trashing actual human beings who likely spend a lot of time here.

I think you avoid that entire narrative.
You've got Conroy and Jarome at the helm. Savard on the bench, a rookie head coach. Market it as a new era. I think the Flames are underestimating their core fans - we like young players. You just need to be in the Dome and hear the Wolf howls, or how quickly the city fell in love with the crew build on rookie Gaudreau and 2nd year Monahan. The support for a youth movement is here.
People who hate the word rebuild just associate it with Edmonton...but even that argument is waning because they kicked our ass and are in a much better spot than us.

No, the "attacks" have value. He's free to say whatever he wants but isn't free from the consequences of saying really dumb stuff. Singling out stupid comments from media types leads me to know which people are actually worth listening to and which are dunces.

Love Backs. Love Lindy. But if these boys can’t make up their minds at this point, then what’s the point on waiting for an answer?

Exactly. Watching the young guns grow and dreaming about the future potential is fun. Probably more fun than sneaking into 8th place with tired old vets to get punted in the first round.
The Bob Hartley find a way flames were one of the funnest seasons in recent memory.

My whole point was that they can say what they want, and I don't blame them for not walking out brutal honestly.
The Rangers did a few years ago for sure, but no other teams predict a long process and brutal on ice results.
Call it what you want, but don't rush it.

Disagree.
You can disagree with someone's opinions, even say most of his opinions are wrong. You can suggest he's too tied into the team to have an actual opinion.
But the personal attacks aren't needed.

Hopefully Lindholm wants to stay and is willing to sign a deal that won't be ridiculous.
Trading the other 3 is A-O-K in my books.
I still think this team can compete right away, but losing Lindholm would be crippling down the middle.
I kind of like the idea of adding Duclair (more bang for the AAV) and also somehow grabbing Konecny.
Replace 3rd line C (Backlund) and 2nd pairing D (Hanifin) from within.

As an aside ...
What is everyone's thoughts on replying to something a day later? I can't keep up these days and find myself saying nothing (some of you enjoy that!) to avoid coming to the party too late.
Anyone else make similar decisions?
Is it best to leave it if it's a day old?
Or is any comment, even late, add to the conversation?

If we're just talking about using the word itself as PR spin, fine, it's only a buzzword and ultimately doesn't matter. Although I would say "re-tool" has taken on a bad reputation with this fanbase, which is entirely founded, and most fans would probably welcome the refreshing honesty of calling it a rebuild.
I think we're on the same page about the importance being the underlying philosophy, and what that philosophy needs to be in a situation such as this.
I just have too much trauma from previous "re-tools" to believe that this time it won't mean what we think it means.

There's nothing wrong with replying to posts a day later. That's still "new". When it's days later I would leave it alone.

The stuff Friedman said about locker room rifts honestly isn’t shocking. Sutter was not great behind the bench. But you could tell the guys weren’t as close as they claimed to be
