Cozens had more points than Lindholm this season. What are you expecting in return?

If CC can get Buffalo to agree, I could actually live with that

Buffalo isn’t trading Cozens
Buffalo is looking to add to their team, not subtract a core piece.

Dylan Cozens was fantastic for Buffalo last year. They won’t trade him for Lindholm.
He really had his coming out party last season. I think a year ago you could make that deal but Buffalo has no reason to make that trade.

Yeah, I don't think it's realistic to expect young roster players back. Cozens is already tied up for seven years for 7 million per- less than Lindholm will get and he is much younger. I would expect picks and prospects for all pretty much everyone except maybe Hanifin.

No, it isn’t.
Johnny Gaudreau left $15M on the table to sign in Columbus.
If you don’t have elite talent, a track record of winning and playoff appearances, if you don’t have geography, If you don’t have tax advantages, you’re going to lose out to places that do.
But Florida had geography and tax advantages their entire existence, and they’ve been respectable for all of maybe five seasons.
You add McDavid and Draisaitl, Iginla and Kiprusoff, people will want to play there.
In any case, you build a collection of 4-6 home grown stars who get along with each other and fill in the gaps with UFAs.
Rarely do you add a star in UFA free for nothing, no matter who you are. It’s not a good way to acquire core players.

Cozens had four more points than Lindholm, and he doesn’t come close to Elias defensively.
Even Strength:
Goals For/60:
Cozens: 3.29
Lindholm: 3.1
Goals Against/60:
Cozens: 3.31
Lindholm: 2.92
Shots For/60:
Cozens: 33.1
Lindholm: 33.97
Shots Against/60:
Cozens: 35.67
Lindholm: 27.26
Expected GF/60:
Cozens: 3.17
Lindholm: 3.04
Expected GA/60:
Cozens: 3.18
Lindholm: 2.63
Shorthanded (Lindholm played over 80 more short handed minutes than Cozens)
GA/60:
Cozens: 11.21
Lindholm: 6.71
SA/60:
Cozens: 80.72
Lindholm: 53.56
Lindholm is a massive upgrade on Cozens - same offensive production, similar money once extended, and he’s twice the player defensively.
Buffalo has Thompson and Dahlin entering their primes. Owen Power was a 1st overall pick. They need a goalie and Selke-nominated centre who doesn’t need Waze to find his own zone.
Plus they actually have cap space to do this, if they want.

Now go pull the stats from when Lindholm was 22 and was playing RW with the Hurricanes. Lindholm might be the better player today but Buffalo’s window is still pretty open and Cozen’s has got a lot of time to grow.
I’m curious what do you think an acceptable return is for Lindholm from a team that’s not the Sabres

LOL at the politics being a factor. Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Nevada are the most popular destinations for players.

That’s kinda the point though - Buffalo has some elite players in that 25 age range. Cozens is a tier below. The Sabres trade him for a Selke centre who’s elite defensively now, and a starting goalie who should settle things in a new situation with a team on the rise.
If it’s just Lindholm, I’d do it for Rosen and a 1st. More broadly, a 1st in this draft, and a 1st round/blue chip prospect drafted last year.
And Lindholm’s last year in Carolina, at Even strength he was 2.77 GA/60, 30.48 SA/60.
Shorthanded: 7.85 GA/60, 52.44 SA/60.
He’s always been great defensively - he’s a Swedish centre, they don’t come any other way.
Cozens is not, at least not now. I’m willing to have patience with him, but he’s nowhere close to Lindholm defensively.

We literally celebrate a week of rain in spring (while hot weather dummies lament it and complain) at this point in Alberta. Our summers are ugly now. But it doesn't really matter as most players would be long gone by the time the effects take place, anyways.

Oh man, I hope you are right but I think you’ll be pretty disappointed with return if you expected Cozens, Rosen, and a 1st. The Sabres could get Backlund or ROR if they want a defensive centre to bridge Cozens.

Mmmm maybe it's not your politics, but Florida and Texas are the two top highest net migration states in the US followed shortly by Tennesee and Nevada. Most people want to migrate there and this applies to most Southern states.

I agree. I’m questioning how Alberta’s politics makes this an undesirable place for NHL players to live.

Cozens is if we’re trading them Markstrom and Lindholm together, with an extension for Lindholm, and more to make the money work than because I want Dylan Cozens.

Oh ok, sorry don't know anything about politics in Canada.
EDIT
except that it is very leftist like in Finland as a whole, or that's my image. That's why the initial comment.

They're easier to disregard with the luxuries involved with those climates.
I'm just saying it doesn't help the cause.
