If they actually decide to go young and rebuild the organizational depth this could all be good news. UFA market is awful this year so anyone who wants to improve almost has to do it through the trade market.

Trade them and wait around with capspace. Someone will either dump a free asset in your lap like Burns, Pacioretty, etc. or someone will pay through the teeth to park a contract with you like Monahan, Ghost, etc.
Getting draft capital and using capspace effectively is the clear way forward.
