I put way more stock into what Friedman says about the Flames than Seravalli. Actually Dreger now too since Nonis is in the Flames org.

Seravalli hasn't really gotten anything right about the Flames that I can recall.

But yeah...

If what the Friedman says is true and they are having promising contract discussions then I think you can hang on to Lindholm.

But if what Seravalli says is true and there is no real commitment reform Lindholm being open to staying then they should be holding an auction for Hanifin and Lindholm.

We're about to find out if Conroy learned anything from Treliving's folly as GM. Set a deadline and then move on if the other party doesn't respond.

The Vegas Golden Knights in the past 5 season went to the Cup finals, twice to the Conference finals are we now pretending they weren't expected to win/compete for the Stanley Cup because of one injury filled season?

This team is a bunch of Tangauys and No Iginlas! We lost our stars. You can't win without star power, in my opinion.
Lol, before this last season Huberdeau most definitely was a star. 115 points and he's not a star? He was a lock to play on team Canada at the Olympics had they gone.
We heard all the same whining and crying on here after the 20-21 season about how the Flames should rebuild. Then they easily won the division. I definitely haven't given up on this group yet. A lot of things went wrong last year. I'm excited for the upcoming season.

The Flames are on the other end of the spectrum. Missed the playoffs this year. Lost their star players last year and now have no stars. This core is not going to win the championship.

People make fun of the Canucks here a lot, but I would rather have their young, talented core to build around than this aging, starless core of complimentary players.

You need stars to win. If anyone thinks Huberdeau or Kadri are stars, they didn't watch any games last year.

I hope the flames trade lindholm and Hanifin. I really, really do.

He can be right by walking all of the big 5 to free agency by extending either of Zadorov or Kylington for a season.
Maybe he's looking to add more and is hoping to have 8, 9, or 10?

Lindholm should be open to signing a contract in principle by the draft and make it official like Dahlin. I don’t see what really changes between now and the start of the season that would make him leave or stay if it is known Hanifin wants out. If his expectation to sign is that the majority of Tanev, Toffoli, Zadorov, Backlund, and Kylington are held into the season and then see how it goes then the Flames have to cut bait.

Lindholm doesn't move the needle at all. I don't understand what we're running back. To hope everything goes right and improves to make the playoffs and maybe make it out of the first round? We arent a contender. Why turn another huge asset into another untradeable contract?

Easily won the division and went how far in the play-offs?

is that the goal for this franchise division wins and play-off flame outs?

Conroy’s in a no-lose scenario.

He doesn’t have to overpay - he either gets the guys he wants back at the number he wants, or he uses the return from seven UFAs to remake the team in his image.

That is the optimistic viewpoint. He could also trade Hanifin and then hope the other UFAs re-sign based on a good year. I just don't think he'll be allowed to trade anyone at the deadline if they are in a playoff spot

If Lindholm signs then Hanifin will be traded for a roster player. Hanifin + 16th for Nylander?

why would the Flames need to add? they are comparable players when you take into account their positions.

you're overvaluing Nylander. He like Hanifin, has one year before he hits UFA. Extension likely $9M plus, and whether he'd even consider re signing is another story.

I would do Hanifin for Nylander, straight up.

I wouldn't do Nylander for the 16OA, simply because we don't need another UFA winger.

But BOTH? Christ.

Not me.

In my mind if/when they deal him it has to be for a player AND a future, either a pick or a decent young guy, preferably a developing dman.

And I wasn't saying it as a trade I would want to see, simply an exercise in value.

For a trade I would actually want, I agree with you.
