What is the definition of crapping on? Not too many people had an issue with Monahan personally did they? He certainly never quit on the team the way some players have.
Now some posters, including myself, felt that Monahan’s salary and slotting were issues beginning around 2019. Which is kind of evidenced by the fact that it ultimately took a first round pick for Montreal to take him and his new salary is at about 25% AAV of his old one.
I guess if we’re playing the I told you so game, some people didn’t recognize the deterioration in his game and his body and were arguing against some of this. No one wants to see a career curtailed by injuries. I really hope he has a fully healthy and productive season.

Not any more, but he was sure crapped on a lot when he was here.
I wonder if Eric Francis ever apologized for trashing him (and Gaudreau) a few years back after they were eliminated in the playoffs when Monahan was pretty injured.
Happy for Monahan. Hopefully he can have a healthy season. Won’t be surprised if he will have a lot of suitors during trade deadline if he stays healthy this year

At this point it's just not happening. The best case scenario would be that he only misses 15-20% of the season.

Not to turn this into another dump on Darryl and Brad thread but the handling (both on and off the ice) and subsequent trade of this player was some of the worst asset management I have ever witnessed, and I'd argue it was really the starting point for what was such a disastrous season.
I was really hoping he'd land elsewhere and in a place like Colorado for this price. Best of luck to him and hopefully he can get his career back on track. It's disappointing to see such a talented player fall off due to injuries.

It is hard to tell on this board whether lots of people were crapping on him or if was 3 posters crapping on him with 20 posts in each thread with any remote relativity to Monahan.
Hopefully he stays healthy and has a big year and gets traded to a contender at the deadline.

As good at BT was at drafting he has to be one of the worst at keeping draft capitol ever.

Are you saying Monahan deserves a bigger contract than this?
Love the guy, but he hasn’t played a full season in 6 years and only had 25 games last season.
68 points over his last 140 games and a minus 26.
It’s not fair, but unfortunately this is what he is now. Not great offensively, not great defensively, and a guarantee to miss a chunk of the season.
I think he's saying Monahan would have wanted more to play in the west. He's pretty close to home and even closer to his old Ottawa stomping grounds.
I'd argue his 17 points in 26 games is closer to what he can do when his health is monitored than looking at his counting his Calgary games which arguably include a bunch of games where he shouldn't have played.

He looked great to start the year. It was jarring to see him so mobile
