Agreed, most of these guy are smarter than we give them credit for. They know that they are in a unique profession where their peak earning years are typically between the age of 25 to 35. After that, they can live and work literally anywhere in the world they want to. Most of them aren't going to give up millions just to have nicer weather for a few years, if they are lucky and don't get traded or waived.
From a professional and earning potential perspective, Calgary has been good for him and I doubt he takes that for granted.

We learn something new ever day.
Today I learnt that San Fernando Valley is located in Calgary or is that Calgary that is located in San Fernando Valley?

Looking at that translation - there may be plenty lost:
"McDavid has 20 points in 12 games this playoff. What do you mean he didn't pull?
— But that's all on the majority.
He has 7 points in equals.
- That's all."
I know what Z is saying because I know what happened. But I bet I'm losing some of the other stuff.
EDIT: But this seems relevant:
Are you feeling some excitement due to the fact that in the new season there will be a new coach and a new general manager?
- I'm tired of worrying. I worry every year. Either I left Colorado, then I left Chicago, then I don’t have a contract. My wife and I are already laughing, we hope that at least this summer will be calm. The last six years have not been like this. We are in touch with the guys, the management keeps us informed.
Do you look positively into the future?
- Next year, seven people, including me, are running out of contracts (they can become free agents. - Approx. ed.) , so it is not clear what they will do with all of us. I hope there will be no restructuring, and we do not need it. We have enough good players, and we can return to the contenders next season. Let's spend the summer right.

Tkachuk, who is a bonafide star was about to sign a massive contract either way, has different considerations than Zadorov, who is a #4/5 d-man.
Tkachuk was the darling of the market and had options. Zadorov should be going for any kind of stability he can find. Zadorov's priorities should not be weather.

Don't be surprised if this takes right up to the draft. I believe both sides are going to try and get the best deal possible, I don't expect to hear anything on Lindholm until a few days before the draft at earliest. This is speculation on my part only.

It's just common sense for any team that might be in on Lindholm or Hanifin, to wait until the draft to pull it off if one of the pieces they are sending back is a 2023 1st rounder. It's exactly why so many trades happen at the draft and fewer happen before.
For one thing, all 32 GMs are going to be in the same room so if they make a trade now, there could be an opportunity cost if other opportunities arise in that environment. Plus, both sides may want to see how the actual draft starts to play out before committing to a deal. The Flames for example may decide part way through the 1st round that gambling on a 2024 1st might be better than a late 2023 1st. The other team might want to get a better idea of who might be available at their pick before trading it.

The deals themselves won’t happen until the draft, but the groundwork will be done beforehand. It’s not like it used to be when NHL trades were made by two GMs talking over the phone. Trades today are complex business with management teams, lawyers, capologists, and agents for the players all having their say and batting the details back and forth. They don’t come together in an hour or two.

I really hope it's not true. I hope he and Hanifin get traded. Flames need futures!

Want to restate that I'm fine with Lindholm staying, as you shouldn't ship out your only 1C until you've developed another. Same rule with #1Ds. Those two positions are the most coveted in the game and if you happen to go on a run in the time that you're retooling or whatever then you want those two most important positional players on your roster to lead the way. Just make sure it's 6 years in length at most.

I hope that deal isn't signed here. More older guys to tie up who've peaked. Crazy Flame thing to do.
