I've noticed that most of these Cinderella teams that go on these unexpected finals runs usually can't get the job done when they get there (94 Canucks, 03 Ducks, 04 Flames, 06 Oilers (Thanks Canes), 2010 Flyers, 2021 Habs off the top of my head). The 2012 Kings are the only exception

This just proves that beating Edmonton is doing God’s work.
Why else would he reward the team who knocked that trash franchise out of the playoffs with an easy cup win two years running?
God hates the Oilers confirmed.

Thanks for reminding me of another time the NHL gave a new expansion team a Cup.

Outside of the Flames face planting this has been a great season of hockey. I'm sure the Oilers are convinced they are "close" since they keep losing to the Cup champs. Stay the course Greasetown.

Current mood
I think I'm done cheering for local teams that are generally mediocre, but are plucky and put up a good fight. Instead, I think I'm going to cheer for the perennially elite teams in every league. Gonna become a Yankees fan finally. At least they can say they win a lot.
It's just too heartbreaking to see another of my teams come close and just fall apart in the end. I deserve a winning team for once. #### my life.

Well,
hell of a run by the Panthers, this was supposed to be the year they pay the price for the Tkachuck trade and here on onwards was supposed to be when they can compete for the Cup. What an experience for this group that is just hitting their prime and should be contenders for many years going forward. Some clear upgrades needed mostly on defense but just like Vegas in their first appearance to the finals, I think experience is the biggest lesson for them.

He never really had any ideas.
They got elite goaltending from Bob for 10 games and Tkachuk/Verhagehe provided timely offense to make it to the finals.
But I don't think Maurice ever did anything that special except for just throwing his top guys over the bench over and over.

Maurice's ideas were to induce Las Vegas into running around. Even before the 2nd period of this game, they showed Lomberg running around the Knights zone in the warmup.
Yet again, they ignored it.

Cheering for a mediocre team sucks. But I don't think bandwagon hoping to the best team at the moment is the answer. Just gotta hope for the best and sadly expect the worse. That way you'll never be disappointed

And it’s not like he came back gangbusters on his return. he looked pretty rusty and maybe less mobile. But he looks fine now.

The great thing about this final - it was either Eichel or Tkachuk hoisting a Cup while McJesus is golfing
This will do
