I think it shows that in the Flames org, if you take an assistant coaching position, you aren't going to get forgotten about or lost in the shuffle the moment the next flavour of the month comes along.
Huska was considered an up and coming coach before Love came along. He was in the running for the Detroit HC position a couple of seasons ago, and presumably the Chicago HC position. He isn't an off the board choice by any means.

it is possible (likely) that was factored in

Maybe it was factored and maybe he was offered something, but it wasn't where he wanted to take his career.

Love might have said head coach or he'll look elsewhere. Otherwise Huska will pick his assistants and maybe he'll get a spot with the Flames

I think its different with Love because hes a hot prospect in the coaching ranks and probably knows he can be a HC somewhere and soon.
Being a runner up and not getting the job but taking a assistants job probably isn't in his plan.
Its not like Nonis who probably was happy to get a job.

That isn’t a problem.
The problem is that our GMs don’t have the necessary insight to really evaluate head coaches with much accuracy, let alone assistant coaches and goalie coaches.

Flames look like they do want to run it back, hence the attempt to keep Tree, then the promotions in the management team and now the promotion on the bench - but I hope Conroy sticks to his asset management point from his announcement.

"Edwards purse strings are tight right now for Coaching"
Openly admitted he was way off on this one, feels someone sent red herrings through a couple of the suspected leaky faucets and took the bait. Win some and lose some.
Tanguay gave a very strong interview but thinks the move was blocked by Detroit - Interview took place just after WHC.
"Could he be here for the announcement today? Possible - I don't know anymore on the coaching front"
A large number of teams have contacted Calgary regarding Noah - Don't know if Calgary will move him before the season starts.
Lindholm has spoken with Conroy.
Vladar offers are discounts on the dollar. Think he's a good back up plan in Winnipeg and Minnesota.

If this is the case, the organization must have a ton of faith and expectations behind Wolf.

Simply an initial assessment based on what these 2 candidates have shown in terms of having head coaching potential at the pro level.
It's not that complicated. Love is a top coaching prospect based on what he's done with the Heat/Wranglers. Huska is replacement level may not have been offered another job in the NHL had he not been given the top gig. It's like opting to take take Stone over Valimaki. And we'll get to see that play out again. Nothing getting more familiar as a flames fan than watching top talent leave the team for greener pastures.
Everything we've heard so far is that this is a loyalty hire of some kind. I think that's dumb. It will be framed like this guy is an incredible communicator and intelligent hockey mind. That's probably true and I hope it pays off, but this comes off as exactly the type of mistake Sutter made. Go with the guy you know and trust no matter what the younger guy is showing.
