Maybe the Habs, Jets and Blues will be interested but then again there could be other options better or cheaper than Vladar.
Better chances he gets waived and clears than we get a 2nd. A 2nd right now is laughable and its more a bunch of Flames fans being bias and over valuing our players.

All teams have to make cap space for one reason or another. And not every team is going with ELC/minimum salary backups.
As for the teams - I think the Wild will cut Fleury loose and go with Gustaffson and a backup. NYR will have to make space and they need a solid backup, not an experiment, at this stage in their supposed window. TB - cap issues seem to be their specialty. And they need a backup.

Sure but that's been the assumption here for a long time. If that's the case then better to go all in than half ass it.

For me, only reason to trade Vladar is cap hit.
I think there will be a big roster change during off season, and team will be mess in the first couple of months. So no need to bring up Wolf to play and impact his confidence.
Start Marky and Vladar to battle for a starter until new year then trade 1 of them and call up Wolf.

I think a young roster player maybe.
Lundell + Duclair for Hanifin....that might actually work okay for both sides.
The only other pieces on the roster (not counting Bennett and Tkachuk) would be Barkov and Reinhart. I'm sure Barkov is untouchable, and Reinhart is just another UFA.

That'd be a sweet deal but can't see the Panthers doing it. I think Lundell is an untouchable for them

Maybe. A run like this changes GMs mindsets. I would have thought Tippett was an untouchable for them too before they moved him for Giroux.
In the end I think he's the only piece on the Panthers roster that could be the center piece of a deal for Hanifin (excluding Tkachuk, Barkov, and Verhaeghe of course)

We're not going to get Lundell.
I think Dubas with Pittsburgh will be pressured to make a move to go all in again while they've still got Malkin/Crosby/Letang:
2023 1st (PIT) + DeSmith + POJ + #6-10 prospect in Pittsburgh's system
for
Hanifin + Vladar
It's possible Pittsburgh doesn't want to part with the 2023 1st unless we take Pettersson. I would do it if that's the case, maybe ask for a 2nd or something in addition. Pettersson isn't horrible, but the cap hit of 4m for an additional year requires a little more coming from Pittsburgh.
DeSmith can be buried in the minors if Wolf takes his spot. If either Wolf or Markstrom are injured, DeSmith isn't the worst but is manageable as an injury callup until Markstrom/Wolf are healthy again.

No chance we bury Desmiths 3.6m in the minors, might as well just keep Vladar.

I wouldn't trade Tanev for a 6th even if he was missing two arms and a leg

I think people underrate Hanifin.
Provorov is a worse player and just returned:
2023 1st
2024 2nd
2024 2nd
Walker
Grans
Petersen
Petersen is purely a cap dump and some extra assets included because of that but IMO thats the starting point.

But contract efficiency and control is everything.
Provorov has 2 years left at a cap hit (now) of only $4.725
Hanifin only has half that remaining term.
Ekholm is probably better than Hanifin, and got 1st, Schaffer, a 4th and a 6th (with Barrie going the other way). Ekholm, unlike Hanifin, has 3 years remaining.

Those valuations are way off.
Orlov for example is seeking 8m/year..
Dumba wouldn't sign for that.
Hanifin worth more than Lindholm?
Tanev only worth a 6th?
Toffoli and Vladar only returning a middling AHL player with significant injury concerns? Look past his draft position.

Lindholm is better then Dubois and worth more then Hanifin imo. I don't think your Hanifin valuation is far off though.

Fair enough on Orlov and Dumba.

Lindholm vs Dubois: UFA vs RFA
Lindholm vs Hanifin: Reason I valued Hanifin higher is because he's younger and a defenseman. Argument could be made that Lindholm is a Center but age is still a factor.

They’re an interesting option. Weak at LD. In win now mode.
Maybe something around Luostarinen + +.

Tippett wasn't even making the roster with the Panthers when he got traded and would've been lost to waivers if they had sent him down. He isn't close to Lundell value wise. I don't see Lundell as a realistic target even if it was straight up for Hanifin just due to his contract status. ELC vs. a guy who will make 8M soon.
Duclair sure, he probably is available although he has had a bit of a renaissance during the playoffs. I don't know what the add would be from the Panthers though.
