I’m not questioning that, and believe it to be true however, he’s signed for the KHL for 3 seasons. Lots can happen. I think he’s the most interesting pick though and if you are a GM with the 3rd pick on, are you going to select him and wait? He comes with a lot of upside but a lot of questions too.

Third pick, no. Probably not 4th pick either. At #5, I start to think.

Michkov is a Bedard-type prospect that is well en route to be the next biggest Russian generational superstar.

In terms of pure potential prior to the draft, over the last 10 years, I'd have him, Bedard and McDavid in their own trio, followed by MacKinnon/Matthews/Eichel.

The fact that a 3-year contract is going to potentially scare teams from taking him when most prospects outside of Bedard/Fantilli are likely going to take 1-3 years to make the NHL anyways (and likely take 2-3 years for any of them to have the chance of reaching top-tier NHL player, whereas Michkov is likely to walk in to the NHL and make an immediate superstar impact.

It's absolutely insane that a player of his caliber is going to be drafted lower than #2, and if any team is dumb enough to trade the Michkov pick, the Flames should do whatever it takes to get him

Well, we've already decided on Lindholm for the 3OA pick, so our second trade to get Michkov in the top ten will have to centre around Backlund. Sorry to that team in advance.

I watched Top Shelf Hockey's latest Youtube video, and it stated that Eric Francis said that Treliving has a lot of faith in Vladar and that he would be interested in getting him to Toronto. Apparently Treliving has faith that he has starter potential, hence why he extended him earlier this season when there wasn't pressure to really do it.

To that point, I think Vladar has breakout potential as well and would rather trade Markstrom, but trading Markstrom is likely impossible.

If Treliving really does feel that way, I wonder what we could get back.

I like the czech Sale if hes there at 16. Left shooting RW with size and skill, my uncle lives over there and has followed him regularly. He thinks hes been moving up so maybe won't be available to us.

I think he drops. Absolutely terrible compete and not physical at all.
Total boom/bust pick and in this draft I don't think you need to take that risk at 16.

I know traditionally the NHL has honoured KHL contracts but is that the case anymore given what is going on in Ukraine? I think if he can get to NA it won't matter if he is under contract in Russia.

I see a report that Hellybuck has made it be known he won’t sign an extension so another big Winnipeg player that will certainly be traded.

I think he could still get in a lot of legal trouble in Russia for breaching the contract. Not to mention his personal safety. He is a cash cow for that team.

Why would he ever go back to Russia? Grab your family and stay in the US. It worked for Mogilny.

It's being reported that the Oilers are having conversations with the Flyers about acquiring Konecny.

https://thehockeywriters.com/oilers-...-trade-flyers/

I can't see how they can fit him in under the cap without making some other pretty big moves though.

Its time to start the LTIR Abuse or they risk losing McDavid before winning.

The Hockey Writers is basically your average fan writing about their favourite team. There is some seriously out to lunch articles on there. I don't see the Oilers having anything the Flyers want that the Oilers would move. Of course Oiler fans will think they can get him for something like Yamamoto. If I am Briere the name Bouchard better come up or I am hanging up the phone.

They referenced an Edmonton Journal article by Kurt Leavins, so it wasn't their own story. I have no idea how reliable Kurt Leavins is though.

Perfect it will make them all the more salty when the Flames acquire him

LeBrun:
“The Kings also got Vladislav Gavrikov re-signed, leaving just one gaping hole to fill: No. 1 goaltender. The problem is they don’t have a lot of cap space left ($7.33 million). So they would have to jump through cap hoops if they want to add, say, Gibson or Hellebuyck. It’s more likely that they’ll either try to land an inexpensive piece — someone like Vladar or wait to see how a UFA market plays out, with names like Freddie Andersen, Antti Raanta, Tristan Jarry, Semyon Varlamov and Joonas Korpisalo available. Maybe there’s a potential bargain there.”

The Kings might have to settle on Vladar as an option, they’ll have a hard time fitting the remaining RFAs they have and trying to acquire a bonafide starting goaltender like Helle or Saros like they originally wanted to. Perhaps the Flames can get a great return for Vladar with contending teams that are in dire need of a goalie capable of starting half the games and only paid 2m.

He is the typical Oilers fanboy media guy. Zero reliability, zero impartiality, 100% moron like all of them.

I didn't realize Korpisalo was a UFA. Do the Kings have anyone left to play in net? Quick traded, Petersen traded.

Edit: Forgot about Copley.
