Thanks for your posts. This one in particular about overagers is superb.

I still think Molendyk is a sleeper. Hope we can grab him in the second but I doubt it.

Super speedy, and perhaps the best defenseman against the rush in the Draft. He could slip into the first.

I’d prefer a 6’5” facepuncher- scouts 20 years ago.

Too small. I think the first 15 teams can find someone better.

When was the last time the #1 OA pick was under 5'10"?
Kane is 5'10" as well, but I can't remember being anyone smaller than that.

Patrick Kane (2007) and Dale McCourt (1977) are the only first overall picks to have a listed height of 5'10". No one has a listed height under 5'10" (and Bedard will likely be rounded up to 5'10").

Kane's height at the combine was measured at 5'9".

When I worked at the Saddledome the Blackhawks team walked in right past me. I’m 5’10” and Kane honestly seemed like he was a bit shorter than me

Even severe skating issues can be improved significantly with the right skating coach. But you can't teach soft hands.

If my choice is between a average skater with average hands and a below average skater with above average hands -- I take the latter.

Looking at the combine results Cam Allen scored high in a ton of categories
Can’t figure out why that guy can’t put it together

Danielson and Yager ranking regularly in the top 10 as well.

Dvorsky has iron giant grip strength.

Do combine results have much of an effect on the draft?

I think if something bad comes up, like poor results, that can affect a prospect’s standing. Otherwise, it’s just more bullets in the gun. Good results show dedication and character.
