I proposed this one previously:
To Detroit:
Elias Lindholm
To Calgary:
17th overall in 2023 draft
42nd overall in 2023 draft
43rd overall in 2023 draft
Fillip Zadina
If it’s a sign and trade, it should also include a conditional 2024 first round pick - if Detroit makes the playoffs, it is a first round pick in 2024. If not, it is a 2nd round pick.

For one year of Lindholm, the 17OA is likely the most you will get in a deep draft when Lindholm will require a huge extension covering a number of non-prime years.
You’ve described a package that a signed Tkachuk may have fetched last year.

What is CBJ doing on their right D?
Severson 6.25 x 8 years
Jiricek 1mm x 3
Peeke 2.75mm x 3
Gudbrandon 4mm x 3
Boqvist 2.6mm x 2
Coulemons 1mm x 3 ('21 1st rounder)

Would be a savvy to go after their 2014 1st. That d core feels really unstable still and the east is really competitive.
Wouldnt be supprised to see them to end ul drafting top 10, even with additions.
Boqvist+silinger+2024 1st.

I disagree completely.
Seth Jones went for the 12th overall pick, Adam Boqvist (8th overall pick two years prior), a 2nd round pick, and a 1st round pick (top 2 protected)
Alex Debrincat (two years of team control) went for #7, 2nd, 3rd round picks
Kevin Fiala went for #19 and a top prospect despite having to move for cap purposes.
Lindholm is one season removed from scoring 42 goals and being a Selke runner up. These players don't become available very often.

The only way you get Konecny is if a 3 way is involved. With the third team acquiring Hanifin/Tanev/Lindholm/Backlund. Ideally, Backlund or Hanifin are the guys I’d want to be traded for Konecny with a small plus on our end. Philly can get an additional plus from the team acquiring the player we trade.

Boqvist+silinger+2024 1st.

I’m not a fan of Boqvist. I’d rather take Peeke. When people on the d end went down, I thought he held the fort as best as he could and logged some big minutes for Columbus. Could easily be the younger version/replacement of Tanev and has a great 3 year deal in place with a very reasonable cap.
Lindholm for Peeke OR Bean, Texier OR Sillinger, and the 2024 1st unprotected. Jarmo would think long and hard on that one, but we’re banking on a tough Metro division that the Jackets could potentially miss the playoffs by a little bit or maybe a borderline top 10 pick. If they make the playoffs I see them as a WC team. So a 10-18th OA pick would be my projection with their additions and Lindholm.
Flip Hanifin for another 1st/top center prospect or go for a top center.
Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov/Bean - Peeke/Zadorov
Stecher?

said it before, but I'd want either Ceulemans or Dumais in any package. Rock solid RHD prospect and an ultra-dynamic RH scorer on the wing, our prospect pool lacks both.

I’d easily replace Texier/Sillinger with either one of those.

No. No he would not. He would say "No" almost instantly.
Guys, we know what a pending FA having a career season during a UFA contract year is going to go for. It does not include a top rated prospect, a producing, young, cheap NHL calibre player and a possible lottery pick. Lindholm is a wonderful player. He is going to get a fantastic return. He is not going to give the Flames a rapid influx of highly talented young players.
A GM saying yes to the deals people have been proposing in here for the last three months would be making their teams moderately better now to be infinitely worse in the future. It's just not going to happen. There are not that many Chiarellis in the world.

Those players were all quite a bit younger than Lindholm. having to give long contracts covering non-prime years is something GM's are starting to understand and shying away from.
The Jones trade was universally panned then and especially now.
Debrincat had 2 years of control left.
Plus, the 17OA this year has huge value. Calgary seems likely to get a pretty good player at 16OA.
In fact, I expect that the 17OA is not available in 2023.
And 2nd round picks in this draft have quite a bit more value than they usually do.

If you can get a mid round 1st in this draft and a couple well rated prospects for Lindholm you take that and run away

2024 1st, Bean OR Peeke and Texier OR Sillinger is close to what you can get for Lindholm at the 2024 trade deadline as a rental.
For a summer trade with potential of extension, he is worth a lot more. The 3rd OA may not be available but value-wise it's fair.
Detroit should jump all over that 17th OA + Zadina offer if we put it on the table.

Something with Detroit could work. Maybe a trade done at the draft table depending on who's there.

I just don’t see the Flames making picks the centrepiece of a trade for Lindholm. They’re not rebuilding, and want to make a run before Kadri and Huberdeau decline. I expect if they do move Lindholm, they’ll want 19-22 year old players and prospects, not draft picks that are 3-5 seasons away from playing in the NHL.

Theres a very clear recent comparable and that's Horvat. Lindholm is typically considered the better player.
Horvat went for 2023 1st(17th oa) + beauvillier + raty.
I think it's fair to assume lindholm would receive a similar package.
A 2024 1st+ sillinger + peeke/bean/texier/whatever young roster player is a perfectly realistic return.

Come on now.. That very same pick (plus additional assets) has been traded twice already for far inferior players in Horvat and Hronek.
You guys are vastly underrating Lindholm here. He's 28.. not 33 for crying out loud. Every single player that has played alongside him since his arrival here has had a career season.. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Monahan, Toffoli, Dube..

Distinctly possible, but will likely see a mid round pick going back with Lindholm. Depends how little faith Yzerman has in Zadina.

In what world is Horvat "far inferior"?
In what world is Hronek, a 25 year old bonafide top four dman who played at a top paring level last season "far inferior"?
Elias Lindholm is an amazing player. He's not good enough to get you a top ten pick, a top NHL prospect and an NHL ready sub-25 year old player.

If you look at Columbus, why not the Flames in a year? Step 1 is getting a top center prospect like Leo and adding a bunch of other assets.
Some can be traded later when the time is right?
Can't get a top pick by making hockey trades unless they are bad hockey trades.
Too much focus is put on the return for Lindholm vs how good Lindholm is. Not enough is put on what #1 CGY 24 could be.

Sillinger is a much better prospect than Raty and Beauvillier was a cap throw in.
I think you can make a case for the 1st and a prospect. You're not getting a roster player on top of it, unless it's a cap dump.

I still think a Lindholm deal with Colorado can make sense.
To Colorado:
Elias Lindholm
To Calgary:
Alex Newhook
Bowen Byram
----
Replay the Hamilton trade for 2 young players. Colorado gets back to serious contender level.
