Not even announced and this is already being called an epic f’n fail.
At least give him one preseason game. Come on.

Absolutely hate promoting the assistant coach but hearing Conroy gush over Rod in Carolina it makes sense but this isn't that intense guy.

Seems like Pinder has also been talking up Huska this week

Taking a while to get to 5000

I mean, Huska was a stones throw from being the head coach in Detroit. I get why Calgary would be worried about losing Love but also equally concerned about losing defensive guru Huska.

Did the Rangers come in and scoop Love or something?

For all we know, Huska might just be the guy to turn the team around. Relax.

Either he's good, and the Flames contend, or he blows, and the Flames become a lottery team. As long as the Flames don't continue being a middle-of-the-pack team, I guess we can't complain.

Huska gives me major Glen Gulutzan/Geoff Ward/Jim Playfair vibes. Guys who are fine in their own right, but not HC material.
Guessing if he’s the guy, it’s a money thing.

I seriously doubt Love commands more than Huska in salary.

Yep. Huska is no dummy, smart guy. He witnessed first hand what went wrong last season and am guessing he'll make the proper corrections on a few fronts. Besides, if Conroy wants a defensively sound team in their own end with the ability to be creative in the offensive zone he's not going to promote Huska if he's unable or unwilling to do the same.

Huska is no longer the flavour of the week as Love is. Love only got the gig becuase Huska was ready to make the jump out of the AHL or the Flames risked losing him. But that was years back and there are short memories with impatient Flames fans.
To promote someone else internally to leapfrog Huska wouldn't make a ton of sense if your playing the internal promotion game for qualified candidates. Huska is much more adapted to coaching in the NHL after being in the league now and seeing what he's seen with NHL millionaire players on the ice and in the room and , than Love is.
So, it makes sense in that regard, but Flames haven't had good luck with the good guy assistants taking over the bench after the mean guy left (Playfair after Sutter, GG after Hartley and Ward after Peters).

Or, he’s a smart guy and a good coach who knows this team and has their respect and will do a good job. We don’t know but I sure as hell ain’t gonna say he’s not HC material or an epic fail like a previous poster.
Let’s see what he can do and then judge.
The writing off of a guy who hasn’t even been announced yet is really odd to me.

Huska has nothing but a mediocre (at best) track record in professional hockey. Results matter.
At this point, I'm basically anyone but Huska.
