Sounds like Yoho and the WarRoom have some competition from the zealot community.

There's a bunch of insane people on all the fringes. The issue many in here are having is that why does this particular group of insane people deserve more attention than the rest. Honestly, $1.3 million doesn't seem like all that much money in the scheme of everything that's going on.

Ya, normally it would be nothing, but after they have shown massive success in Alberta(and an entire country south of us), I think it's pretty naive to sit back and pretend it can't also be a possibility in many other areas of government, education, law, civics etc. I strongly believe we ignore this at our peril.

Well I think its the group of the day to pay attention to because there was an article just written about them. All of the extreme groups should be noted when they start making serious inroads into government.
And yeah $1.3 million doesn't sound like a lot - but a couple years ago I thought a dozen truckers heading to Ottawa to protest didn't sound like a lot and it was just a couple anti-vaxx crazies on Facebook. And then suddenly we are calling in emergency powers.

I’d be more worried about socialists TBH.
Never even heard of Christofacists. But I’ll keep my eye out for them.

Please tell us more about how a Norwegian socialist is more dangerous than a religious fascist. Your opinion in this regard is certainly valid and no doubt has exceeding merit, like the myriad other completely asinine positions you frequently take on this forum.

Isn’t North America (& the World?) at the lowest percentage of religiosity in history?
If so, doesn’t bode well for a religous political movement, such movements existing since the dawn of man.

So what has happened in the States in the past few years is just normal people not following their religious upbringings while they remove rights because their book doesn't agree with freedoms? Sure, sure. Nothing to worry about.

So if we got the Christofascists and the Cryptofascists into some sort of Thunderdome scenario...who would win?

Mainly it’s about a group of rich billionaires using the religious groups as a voting bloc so they can advance their economic interests and don’t really care about the social side because they are not subject to any of the restrictions because they are easy to spend your way out of.
Also by shifting this group right economically and funding the moderates in the other group you ensure that the oligarchy is never challenged. The politics serve the economic interests of the funders.

We're fighting a culture war when we should be fighting a class war.
The billionaire class sure has figured out how to manipulate the masses.

If you aren't the bourgeoisie then you are the proletariat. Anything else is an illusion to ferment infighting in the proletariat.

The proletariat isn't aware of being proletariat when they go huge in debt to do things that are "bougie".
I still don't get why this is a major issue. IIRC, the mafia has already done this out East, no? I recall a documentary (5th Estate?) that said that unlike the Chicago and NY and other mafia that were blatantly loud, the Canadian mafia put their head down and quietly infiltrated all levels of government + set up lots of legitimate businesses to play a shell game/hide lots of their illicit activities. Isn't this situation more concerning than this other group?
Not to mention, true power corrupts. Christofacists (who?) going to the top probably would get corrupted and neutralized by other money and other threats relatively quickly if they got near the top ranks of government?
