Mangiapane definitely underperformed. Lindholm could have been better.
However, the Flames actually had pretty great depth last year. Backlund, Toffoli, Dube, Coleman, and Ruzika (when got to play) were all solid. And the Flames could be injecting even more depth with guys like Duehr and Pelletier looking ready.

If we trade Lindholm/Backlund or both, we may need to restock our C with a good prospect and Turcotte might fit that bill. Perhaps a deal to send Toffoli back to LA? I know Kings probably need a Dman more than a winger plus not too often do teams trade within their division so it's likely a pipe dream on my part.

A good target for sure. Shows flashes of great skills but is inconsistent. I think he still has the potential to pop in the right circumstances.

You said it yourself - it was his two hundred foot game, and complete unwillingness to commit to playing a team game that made his season so massively disappointing. It's not a coincidence he was a team worst -19.
Kadri can be so much better, and likely will be this upcoming season.

That's what I meant but numbers was I'm not sure we should be expecting him to put up big numbers.
He also changes the match ups freeing up Lindholm and Backlund a bit but player usage was a disaster last season it's hard to really grade anyone properly.

Not sure where this belongs but Mark Stone confirmed to Lebrun he was only open to singing prior to July 1st with Vegas. That's why the offer was so bad not sure why they tried to rip us off at the time.

Lebrun did say he thought there were 2-3 other teams involved that thought he might sign an extension with them but in the end it didn't work.
In the end I've still heard Flames were willing to do the deal on that Sunday night, had agreed upon a trade, but then realized that Stone wasn't going to extend and it fell apart.
Imagine giving up the assets for Stone to just have him walk to Vegas in the offseason for free that year then anyway...that would have sucked.

I agree.
I'd be perfectly content paying 7M for a 25-30 goal, 60-70 point Kadri so long as he plays with that fiery nature and commits to a strong two foot game which he has shown capable of doing in the past.
It's hard to pin point exactly why he looked so disinterested and unhappy, but let's hope a coaching change, and a significantly less crazy off-season help. I think it will.

It's always fun to look back at the what if we did get him and just basing it on how we would have performed with him in the lineup.
Not sure it's enough to offset the Avs adding Makar.

Yes, the story was Stone wouldn't even speak to the Flames (and two other teams including Winnipeg IIRC) about an extension, and he was all over getting one done with Vegas. That killed the deal.

DeBrincat on the block. Could see the Flames taking a swing there if they re-tool

He has the Matthew bridge - He's looking for that 8.5+x7/8 otherwise, just sign your Arb and become UFA in a year.
Carolina if they want a goal scorer has all the money.
I personally think he ends back up in Chicago.

If he is willing to sign here I can see them doing it. Not that they should. I’d be surprised if he ended back up on Chicago. Hurricanes are interesting but they’ll be tight against the cap in 24/25. They got all the money this upcoming season.

We don’t have the space to add a DeBrincat, and I’m not sure how much he would move the needle for us long term. He’s more of a complimentary piece, and we’ve got quite a few of those already.
Mang was supposed to be turning into that last year but it didn’t happen, maybe he can bounce back.

Eh. We’ll see if a playoff team actually trades for him. He won’t waive to come here anyways

Agreed. Especially when the flames have arguably the best goalie prospect in the league seemingly ready to make the jump.
