PP actually briefly formed a political consulting company in 2003 with . . . Jonathan Denis. Yes, that Jonathan Denis. He went on to run for the Cons in 2004 less than a year later. Deep private sector experience with only the best people.

Harper's job was in the mailroom then doing some IT for a couple years then career politician. Chretien was a practicing lawyer for all of 5 years before becoming a politician.

There isn't a lot to choose from in politicians if you are looking for a full career before joining politics.

He is constantly speaking about what he believes to be issues with the housing market, both foreign and domestic. I am sure, I have my bias's contribute to how I perceive the liberal government, and I will admit that. When, as in the past, the conservatives win the popular vote it kinda does mean that the majority of Canadians are OK with their political path.
If you want to go back, you’d see I also liked PP for leadership years ago. You’re right in part that the Conservative party has some good policies, some of which are pretty much indistinguishable from Liberal policies tbh. They both also have policies I don’t really care for and trend too much towards things that make the rich richer (whether they be their friends or their donors).

What I don’t like, what I didn’t like about O’Toole when he was the leader, and what I’ve come to dislike about PP as a leader, is the pandering to the far right and populist rhetoric. I don’t feel like it is in the Canadian spirit or in line with the average Canadian, for one, and we have countless cases around the world of language that centres around fighting “the woke agenda” (for example) to be a precursor to policies and actions that are purposefully harmful to people (like those in the LGBTQ community). So, frankly, I don’t trust PP. All I can hope is that his policies are sound and the talk is just talk.

But that’s why I liked O’Toole’s messaging on the way out. He identified the problem the Conservative party has in the minds of a lot of Canadians and said the party needed to become a welcoming one of optimism. That isn’t the message PP is sending. “The woke agenda,” as synonymous it is with absurd pandering by itself, is also synonymous with real gains in equal rights, social justice, and climate action. That’s important to me. I’d be happy with a Conservative government that says “hey, we think it’s good enough but are willing to listen.” When we have a Conservative government that says they want to actively fight against it, it is not encouraging.

And to be clear, none of this is to take away from Chinese interference or the briefing O’Toole had. It’s just a defence of the conclusion O’Toole came to, and one I think he would have come to regardless of if he had one or lost. Is PP going to come to the same? Man, I hope so.

What exactly in your view is PP promoting that will benefit workers? Job creation is a nice punchline but what steps has he taken to ensure that those will be good jobs?

That would help with housing affordability, improving life for families and create optimism. No?

Lowering corporate taxes to create more minimum to low wage jobs doesn’t help someone who is currently stuck working a minimum to low wage job get ahead. Lowering their income taxes slightly when they likely pay very little in taxes as is won’t provide much help.

I dont understand what the point was here. Everybody knows that Trudeau was a teacher....so what?

They're missing the point, who cares that he was a teacher? I'm more offended that he was a 'Trust-fund Baby' who got a lucrative political career on the back of his family name.

At least he had a job.

Typical PP, bringing in nonsense and conspiracy into the HoC. Real class act. Maybe next he can connect Trudeau to Pizzagate.

In case anyone is wonder what PP was trying to insinuate, when confronted with being a political lifer with his head strapped to the trough. Good gig, if you can get it.

Usually the reference to his teaching position was that it was part time, drama, and he left under alleged suspicious terms regarding minors and a NDA. He was also accused of groping a reporter around the same time (which he has apologized for but denied actually groping her? )

you forgot god, don't forget he is super into the christian god.

besides, that's not a platform, that's just a platitude.

People might take him more seriously if he can come up with actual actionable ideas for the country. Instead of things like wanting to audit the bank of Canada, prevent them from becoming involved with a digital currency and have all of us invest in crypto as a hedge against inflation.

I'll give Poilievre credit for playing the role of attack dog well, but every time he does something like this I dislike him more. What a toxic contribution he makes to Canadian politics. I don't see him as standing for anything or providing any reason why anyone should vote for him to lead the country.

I've said it before, but being in the opposition is much easier than governing. All you need to do is criticize. It's coulda shoulda woulda politics.

It sounds like there is more smoke to that fire than meets the eye.

I’ve heard rumours the parents signed the NDA not the person involved.

Who is now a grown adult.

True. He just seems exceptionally willing to pull all of the political discourse into the muck to get his opponent dirty. It's the professional wresting of politics, and fans treat quips like that as though they're folding chairs to the back.

Make sure you defend JT when it starts coming out.
Lol I don't slavishly adhere to someone because they're on "my team" like.. some..

If there's evidence, then they should provide it. You of course ignore the fact that there probably isn't a single poster here that would be unhappy if JT had to step down and was replaced. That you ignore that shows your true motivations.

If there's evidence I'd be the first to say they should be held responsible for their actions. Until then it just makes PP look like a ultra right wing troll.

You on the other hand seem to be fine with accusations based on nothing, imagine that.

EDIT: "I’ve heard rumours", of course to Yoho that completely justifies making accusations.

You may not want to perpetuate rumours that aren't substantiated, particularly with the type of accusation you seem to be lobbing here. Posting this kind of stuff without evidential proof is incredibly dangerous at worst, and extremely careless at best.
