What makes you think the first Calgary traded will be 29th overall?

Yamamoto's buyout is a no brainer. Saves 2.6M the season coming up and only costs 533k the following season. Replace him with that Xavier kid/ELC/Min contract and you still have 1.6M and change. They would be stupid not to buy him out.

Obviously, the Flames are losing out through all these transactions, but it's hardly some franchise killing set of events.

I didn't know I said it was.
Once Bennett is up for negotiation, he'll be 29. That next contract may be one to avoid.

Is Bourgault ready though? He's more of a small skilled guy who had 34 points in 62 games in the AHL. Hardly seems to be NHL ready IMO.
They could buy out Yamamoto though and sign a vet for league min similar to Lewis and not be any worse. But the will likely rush the prospect that isn't ready.

I wonder if there is a trade to be made with Lindholm and Nylander as the main pieces....

No.
We all decided Lindholm is going to Columbus for #3OA.
How about Mangiapane for Nylander? Treliving loves Mangiapane.

Posters question those aspects more than the player himself.
Bennett is young and signed to a relatively cheap deal.

18 year old Sam Bennett is 27 and hurt all the time
I know man, time flies

Friend of mine said Nylander for Weegar and Lindholm. I'd sub Hanifin for Weegar maybe.
Both Lindholm and Tavares have played wing so you'd have a Monahan/Lindholm situation

how is Nylander worth that? get out of here (to your friend)...Nylander for Lindholm straight across is about right considering positions they play.
i'd do Hanifin for Nylander if Shilly is back to form.

Frankly I'm dumping salary and I think there's a better chance Nylander extends for a reasonable amount than Lindholm or Hanifin. I'd ask for a pick as well but the Leafs don't have any.

Massively over-valuing the Leaf player, as per usual
You can debate Lindholm for Nylander (I prefer the C, and think Lindholm has more value, especially at the lower cost)
And you can debate Weegar for Nylander, but I like the defenseman, signed long term at a reasonable rate
but both of them for Nylander? Ridiculous

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Considering Nylander is a UFA going into next year (as is Lindholm) and Weegar is under a cost controlled 8 year deal?
Yeah thats awful for the Flames. But given the history of deals with Toronto...

Can Nylander even play center? Leafs are a bad trading partner for the Flames. If a trade goes down with them then Flames will lose it.

I agree. Of course, Lindholm and Nylander are both pending UFAs, so which one is a better prospect for extension? I think Lindholm's looking for a huge payday. Nylander I think wants a raise, but not a stupid one.
I'm not trading Weegar for anyone.
EDIT: I countered with Hanifin and Coleman since he wanted a D and a "responsible forward".

It'd basically be viewing Weegar as a cap dump
