Day 1: Sign Matthews to an 8 year deal, then trade him to NYR for early negotiating permission to sign Kane and Tarasenko to 7x11M deals each.
Day 2: Send Tavares and a 1st to WPG for cap space.

Day 3: Set focus on re-signing Nylander.

July 1st, 2024: Watch Nylander leave for nothing as a UFA.

Flames don't have the cap space. He'd have to retain.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Vladar goes there for a draft pick or something to make room for Wolf.

Clearly they mutually agreed to go their separate ways and allowed Tre to save face. Maloney also said they needed new vision, which was telling on how they felt about Treliving

I wouldn't be surprise if this is what he wants to do, but doesn't Tavares have a NMC or something?

Good for Brad. It’s gonna be interesting to see how he navigates in Toronto in comparison to Calgary. No Canadian market is easy to work in, but I feel like Toronto and Montreal are different beasts from the rest

Okay then, Treliving loves getting later rounds draft pick. Markstrom and a 2024 second for Marner with 30% retain. |

I don't think Sheldon's days are numbered. Treliving probably gives him a chance just to curry some favour with the players. They generally like him. Too much change and he's seen as someone from the outside, then it becomes tough to get his guys to sign.
Montreal and Toronto are indeed hard to navigate, but I'd also add Winnipeg. Getting anyone to stay or sign there is a complete uphill battle. I'd hate to be the GM there. Toronto is alright if the GM is fair with the media instead of combative. Dubas did alright treating them alright. Montreal they can turn on you fast. They're also generally knowledgeable and if they smell BS, they'll get on your case. They love their own too, so I'm very curious how long Hughes lasts as the new bridge as right now he's in his honeymoon period.
