Unfortunately a majority of Alberta voters would have bought into that rhetoric and I doubt the result changes. Just my opinion though.
Change name?

The Alberta NDP are an affiliate/subsidiary of the federal NDP. They can't just "rename" the Alberta affiliate because of that.

The NDP are the only political party in Canada that are structured like this.

Alberta has only recently turned this vile and for the last year there was hope that the province wasn’t actually as awful as this since Smith never faced an election.

That's the talk of a strong leader. I really liked that remark in her concession speech.
As a staunch UCP voter the speech was fantastic , and I honestly wish she was part of the UCP party

Can’t wait to fly my confederate flag with pride again. We’ve shown the rest of Canada who’s in charge once and for all.

That's not what happened he was bullied and likely wisely decided not to waste time engaging any further.

So proud of Rachel for a great speech. I’m glad she’s not stepping down. I hope she and the NDP learn from this - an election they blew, in my opinion.

Except her part about wanting to work with the UCP for the greater good. Question period in the Alberta legislature has been a place where both sides insult each other and belittle what the other side has done. I don't see it changing.

Buckle up I guess. Can't believe we gave these deplorables a mandate.

Let the war on health, law and education commence.

There’s definitely a lot of heat geared towards Smith, which I think gave the NDP a lot of momentum.

At the end of the day, I hope this is the last time we see either of these leaders run. Time for new voices at the heads of both of these parties.

Crazy (and unfortunate) to see that the other parties seemed to have had their support absolutely ravaged by this “two party system” in Alberta.

Then they will never form government against a united right.

What a sad, embarrassing day for Alberta. Never once did I think that Republican-style far right extremism would ever worm its way into my once beloved home province, but here we are. This is some scary s***, and it's a far cry from the Alberta that I grew up in and have such fond memories of. Watching what's been happening there these days is just so incredibly disappointing and depressing.

Shandro back in front by 60 votes but no votes counted from Lord Beaverbrook yet.
