I wish your political party of choice, the best of luck. I think this could go either way.

I’ve been to Texas many many times. And I know Danielle Smith and her UCP bedfellows. Texas is more liberal than Smith. And Texas is far right.

Did you get vaccinated? If so, the leader of the party you voted for has already called you this.

We both, through no fault of our own, have had our lives changed long before old age with life changing health issues. We both lost the health lottery. We still work incredibly hard and pay taxes, despite having many many challenges. But we can't afford to fly to the States every time we need to see a doctor(or one of the 10 or so we both have to see). Most months I need the health system several times. I get that's probably hard to understand for some people, but that is why it is so important. If we were Americans, no doubt, my wife would be dead and I'd be broke, probably on a street in Portland. Instead we both contribute the best we can to society(and work in oil and gas!) and pay taxes.
Here's where your partisan blindness comes in. You think the system we have is the fault of the system itself never being able to provide timely care, but the reality is, that's exactly what the Conservatives want you to believe. They've spent decades molding the system into what it is, which is a failure. They've ignored countless reports and advice. And now the system is utterly broken. The solution isn't privatization for those who can afford it because they won the health lottery and were able to bank lots of money. You have allowed the system to become what it is by supporting a one party system, just like China has. And you have been abused by them, whether you recognize it or not. Voting one way for life doesn't make you committed to a cause, it makes you a tool to be used.
But the fact is, as you clearly state, you value your money more than you value healthcare for the less fortunate. There's a word for that. But it's not something Canadians typically hold as a key value.

I clearly stated thousands of other Albertans.
I am like most on this board, I have a mortgage, bills, and many financial responsibilities.
And one of the fundamental reasons I support a two tier system is I believe it will make more space and shorten wait times for those that need it most. But it would definitely require a new approach to assure that, but I think it's do-able.
If you would have read my original post about it, it was one of the key reasons I support it. Even if the top tier was out of reach for me, I'd still support a two tier system as long as it get me in quicker in the public domain.
And no, I do not value money over the lives of the less fortunate. And putting those words in my mouth is extremely offensive. As those on this board that know me outside of your little keyboard SJW land know the lengths I would go to help anyone in need.

Sorry I should have included this in my other post, but I was thinking about this on my walk. the part that is pajoraitive and marginalizing is that people are pushing back on what rural ideologies. people insult one another because of their beliefs all the time. Sure it hurts your feelings, but its fair game. Beliefs are, well should be flexible and ever changing.
What is so insulting about it is that rural people are a distinct cultural group, with a shared cultural experience, this is not just talking smack about ideas. Where you're from is not something that you don't have power over. I remember once I was watching my brothers team play in the Calgary ( as one does when they're 8 and from a hockey family) and because his team was winning parents from the city team started calling them ( and us) a bunch of stupid hicks.

Since I've lived in both the U.S. and Canada for most of my life I think I have a fairly accurate perspective. Health care in the United States is world class, if you have a health issue there is no better country to be in. If you don't have health care coverage there is no worse country to be in.
The hard truth is there is no way we can offer everyone the absolute best health care money can buy.

There is no shortage of evidence or studies that show two tier doesn't not improve quality or access in the public system. It's not hard to find that, so if that was the basis for your vote, you got it wrong.

I guess the next question is, what do you consider poverty and how many people do you know who are in poverty?
So broadly suggest people in poverty are not hard working is pretty divorced from reality

In a two-tier system, what doctor would want to work for anything other than their own private clinic?

6% of Canadians live at or below the poverty line I accept that as poverty.

I am saying simply I don't know anyone that works hard (full time job) and are poor. Do you? And if so where do they work and why are they in poverty?
