But they can't, cause NDP = economic disaster, oil field shutdowns, quasi-support for Trudeau etc...We've all heard the reasons. Of course it's stupid and flawed thinking, but these are people who are trying to justify a bad choice, I don't expect logic.

I would think that people who believe in this would support Smith. The wackos as CP calls them.

People reasonable enough to think that Smith would be a disaster would also be the same people that are reasonable about the NDP. Oil fields will not shutdown.

That is not the case. They see NDP and think that they will sneakily try to switch over to Federal NDP policies and are willing to hold their nose on everything else because of economic fears or greed.

The party that wins this election likely loses the next one. There's a pending recession and Energy Downturn coming that will be pinned on them that is entirely out of their control. The fact that Alberta stayed with the same party for as long as they did was really abnormal.

Whoever wins tonight likely does with 44 to 47 seats, so that's going to be tough to impress the electorate enough to get another mandate given the slim margin.

Plenty of people using the myopic reasoning to vote for UCP because Bus Boobs will be turfed soon afterwards is in for as much disappointment as a Flames playoff run.
Just remember what boobs that bus is riding on.

That bus probably has great traction. There's a lot of hot air in those tires.

Another vote for sanity complete.

Yeah, I've never really understood the problem with not voting. You have a right to vote for someone who represents you, I shouldn't HAVE to make a choice between a steamy bowl of #### or a #### sandwich.

"But you can't tell who isn't voting for apathy or laziness" is always the answer, but honestly the same can be said for spoiled ballots.

Give a voting option of "Everyone Here Sucks" and announce their vote % too.

Like Progressive Conservatives

Bring in Mandel. It worked great for the Alberta Party.

Speaking of which, a reverse takeover of the NDP by the AP would be a genius move. Not happening in a million years of course…

I actually think this would be interesting to track, and would probably have a bigger % than people think.

All I wanted was a dead centre candidate who was not crazy.

Too much to ask?

Agree, change their name and Notely probably wins.

Yeah I dunno, people getting riled up and calling me names because I said I don't really like or want to vote for either person / party is pretty indicative of why I try to stay out of politics talk in general.

Instead of "changing their name" Notley should have jumped ship and became the Alberta Party leader. Even with a name change the lineage still goes back to the NDP, Alberta Party is a fresh start.

I voted NDP for many reasons (voted about an hour ago). Go back a few pages to see my struggles with being undecided. Many reasons to vote NDP for the first time in my life (even though I consider myself a conservative, albeit more centrist).

Send a message to the federal conservative party that my vote is not guaranteed to go their way. If they spend too much time trying to win the far right conservative vote (please stop mentioning woke...)... they will alienate their more centrist base.

If PP continues with this woke angle that he has, he will lose the federal election. PP and the federal conservatives need a wake up call. I like the idea of giving Singh and Trudeau a false sense of security that they can win a federal election prior to 2025 as well (gaining a Liberal majority).

Fight the hate speech that UCP is promoting. Get off the fence and support NDP... this time.

45-42 UCP. Two seats out of reach for the NDP, not close enough that someone leaving or getting kicked out of caucus can defeat the government. Pretty much a Flames result.
