They switched back to the red-white-blue uniforms with the switch to the Reebok Edge design in 2007 (and amazingly are still wearing that same basic design).

I missed this reply earlier. The man, the myth, the legend. He's a dang role model for the kids out there. (spoiler for size, didn't know it'd be that massive lol)

Does it ever make sense to trade in a vehicle to a dealership?

Trade in works if it’s so old and beat up that it’s not worth the time to sell privately.
“Where’s your trade in?”
“I parked across the street.”
“That old Buick? $300 bucks”
“Done.”

For some people, yes - absolutely. For convenience or if the seller is not comfortable selling privately there is value in it (time). Financially, probably not.

That was my experience too. Or if there’s an issue that’s so bad that it decreases the value of the vehicle to a point and you may not be willing to sell to someone on kijiji even with disclosing the issues. I had a 2002 Ford Taurus station wagon that developed some bizarre electrical and heating issues. Troubleshooting and fixing was going to be far beyond the value of the vehicle and I didn’t feel comfortable selling it privately as I really didn’t know what was wrong. I told the dealer the issues and they were happy to take it as a trade-in and give them some wiggle room on the price of the new vehicle. I figured it was worth about $2K best case scenario and the dealer said they could get $1200 for it at auction. He “gave me” $2700 on the official docs.

Yup, I've done this twice. If the car is worth less than a grand I'd rather just take whatever the dealership would give me to avoid the hassle of selling it myself

Yah, for an Odyssey I’d 100% get it all cleaned up and sell it privately. Should be pretty easy since they are highly sought after.
Feel free to PM the details and you’re asking price as we have tons of friends with kids that are looking for vans.

5yo sought after minivan in currently short supply? Yeah man, unless you’re just too wealthy to give a ####, fix and clean it up and don’t leave money on the table.

I had no idea how out of supply the minivans were. I talkedmy wife out of wanting a pilot. We're just going to fix up the thing and keep it.

Yah, the van market is insane. We get emailed, texted and called multiple times per month from the dealer asking if we’d like to sell or trade in our 2018 Sienna. Last time I checked, it was a 18-24 month wait for a new van, so that wasn’t going to work at all.

You’ve also been shopping this market eh? I gave up, keeping the station wagon a few more years. Can’t believe the prices on vans.

I’ll gladly pay a dealer $2-3k to sell my car for me. Which is about what the difference has been the two times I sold a +$15,000 vehicle to a dealer. Not a trade in though, sold them straight up.

I forgot about the other time we traded in a vehicle. My dad had 2008 Diesel F250 that was in absolutely immaculate shape, with one issue…it was only 2WD. After he passed away, my mom was hoping to get a new SUV, so I tried to sell the truck privately for months before giving up and taking $9500 for it on a trade in deal at the dealer. I’m sure they just flipped it and sold it in the US for a massive mark up, but I just didn’t have enough time to try and go down that path on my own. We also had a 2008 Ford Fusion and the dealer offered $6K for a trade in and I ended up selling it privately for $11K.

Is Groupon even a thing anymore? I logged into my old account and nothing from Calgary seems to exist anymore.
