And as long as you are adjusting for age and gender then it only matters if each age/gender call screener is the same in voting intention as the person who. So is there bias in those who answer phones. The same question can be asked of the online panels.
|
I'd argue those that answer the phone have a screw loose and are dissimilar from the people that don't pick up the phone for unknown numbers and enjoy talking to telemarketers and scam phone calls.

I think the crazy thing is looking at how many times Jason Kenney's UCP proposed something and then backtracked because of public backlash - and are then still voting for the same party.

Meanwhile, the UCP lead in the Mainstreet tracker is now down to UCP+2.1. Might not seem like much, but given we are only adding 1/3 of the sample, I wonder if we are seeing a reversion to a mean and the race really is… tied.

Stephen Carter @carter_AB
I’m just going to say it: @planetjanetyyc’s polling is off.
No gender gap? 8 point UCP lead?
At least one pollster is going to be the big loser in this election, and I fear it’s Janet.
Either she or I will be making an apology on Tuesday.

What's crazier IMO is that we encounter a lot of UCP supporters who won't vote for the NDP because they were forced to take "the jab" by the government*.

But if they didn't get it then they couldn't go to Boston Pizza. That is an actual argument I have heard and how it was communism.

Little did they realize that Boston Pizza was under no obligation to allow them in even if they were vaccinated.
The more you know.

Eric Francis with another article about how a UCP win means arena and NDP win means who knows. Luckily no one goes to the Sportsnet webpage to read this drivel.

Dude was actively campaigning to have the Flames sold and moved from Calgary prior to 2004. I hold very long grudges and have discounted anything he has said since. He is the absolute worst.

Is there any such list for Danielle Smith's "record" (or whatever other better descriptor one may use) alone?
***
Also probably a decent place to repost the ultimate spreadsheet list of >400 UCP missteps:

I just got home from the Gordie Howe C.A.R.E.S luncheon and Eric was the emcee (mostly a fine job he does too)
That said, he said the same and encouraged all of us “hockey fans” to vote UCP or there will be no new arena. The problem? The luncheon is in support of the Gordie Howe Cares foundation, for Alzheimer’s and related dementia caregivers.
I’m not sure that is the right crowd to be boasting voting UCP Eric. Yes, we are all hockey fans in this room, but we are all supporting a cause that is clearly in need of funding partly because the alberta health care system is failing Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
I’m tempted to write to him to express my concerns but I doubt it would resonate with him

Put up an NDP sign for the first time in my life. Calgary - West looks pretty safe for Ellis and UCP, but hey, maybe there are more like me than the pollsters anticipate.

That's a pretty disgusting move on his part. Good on you if you take a few minutes to let him know, everyone deserves a chance to learn and grow from their mistakes.

Nice! It's really easy for someone like me to put up an NDP sign in Sunnyside where 90% of them (at least) are orange, but I love the fact that people are putting up orange signs in neighbourhoods where it was maybe a bit taboo a couple election-cycles ago. It definitely helps change the narrative around the party when there are signs for them in every part of the city.
