Well...not in my experience, no...but nobody's saying anything about it.

And the thing is...narratively...I dont think it moves anything anywhere and I know a lot of British people so I dont think its cultural...so I really dont get what is going on here.

And I will say...there is no better feeling than scoring against your former team in a win.

Especially if you're not normally a goal-scorer.

I think we can all just agree that 'Greek Food' is the true hero of this show.

I like how Roy went back for a hug with Jamie's mom, and Keeley was having none of that.

No, it was weird as heck for sure. I've never seen a mom jump into her son's arms and wrap her legs around him like that....and then just stay there for a prolonged amount of time.

The cuddling was also weird and so was the "my sexy boy" lol

He's definitely a mommas boy

The Jamie and his mom thing was weird, but in the context of a household with an abusive father, a very young mother, they're probably both victims of frequent physical and emotional assault... I kinda get the idea they've got a shared trauma that gives them a relationship that looks inappropriately close from the outside.

I love this show. It’s been damn near perfect. I adore the way the show handles all situations in a way I would never expect.

I don’t know how they will land the finale, but I know they will and I will be satisfied.

This may be my favorite show ever.

So many threads to tie up in one episode, I'm almost expecting a 4th season.

I don’t know if I’ve ever watched a show that has made me emotional so many times.

It’s so great.

I honestly did not clue into them all eating kebobs in the locker room was because MacAdoo ordered 75 of them in the scene prior, until near the end of the episode. classic gag!

Jamie and his mum being very 'close'—wrapping her legs around him, them cuddling as they did—is very obviously supposed to be weird. What octothorp said about them having a shared trauma living in a household with James Tartt was probably what the writers were going for with this. That said, what makes this all seem more weird is the real-life age differences of the actors:

Phil Dunster (Jamie) is 31; Jamie is supposed to be ~26.
Brett Goldstein (Roy) is 42; Roy is supposed to be ~40.
Leanne Best (Jamie's mum) is 43; Jamie's mum is... probably supposed to be 45ish?

The background on Beard was a great way to in 30 seconds understand him and his relationship with Ted.

Beard's moment with Nate is one of the best moments of the whole series.

Agreed they probably should have found someone older. Felt very strange. Although her being a young mother also plays into that relationship. I think without knowing the REAL extent of who Jamie's dad was it's hard to empathize with them. Sure we know he's an ass, but we don't really know the extent of his abuse towards them.

Season's been up and down for me. Nate's whole arc has been strange, rushed, and IMO not believable. Ted has been absent, other than the episode with his ex dating their marriage therapist, ALSO very strange. Keely's side story with Jack was pretty meh, although I did like them flipping the script on the power abuse angle with a woman doing it to another woman. Roy's and Jamie's relationship has been the best part of it, particularly Jamie's change which feels the most natural of all the characters. Probably because it's been happening for all 3 seasons. The rest feel like a rush to get somewhere.

Next surprise - Keeley, Roy and Jamie form a triad.

Coach Beard is so well written. Just a complete wild-card character.

This is what pisses me off about so many shows.

There are ways to accomplish your narrative goals that dont need to be long and drawn out.

Coach Beard is a background character because, my understanding is that he is the principle writer of the show and just kind of wrote himself in.

He got 1 episode dedicated to him because the studio forced him.

But overall...his lines and they way he's written is goddamned brilliant.

All wheat...no chaff.

Train usually, some fly depending on time of year, how busy their fixture list is
