pssh! You wouldn't feel it. Right now YOU are travelling at 107,300 km/h around our Sun. I don't see people flying off the face of the earth when they forget to hold on.

Tell that to my brother inlaw, he keeps falling down, and he's sure its because the earth is moving too fast.

Just be thankful that the earth rotates! Otherwise we'd all fall off into space...
(yes, I'm kidding)

Alright, toss some fossil fuels into the Enterprise and lets go!
This is a pretty cool discovery, but not overly useful until we can actually get there within 100 years, not 400 thousand.

For some reason I keep picturing those aliens off Futurama from Omicron Persai 8..
"Bring us Mcneal!"
"Friends is on, bah, nevermind its a Joey heavy episode."

Well, if it is just 20.5 light years away, you might be able to communicate with any intelligent life. Just like on Futurama, they might be watching a TV show "Single Female Lawyer" right now (well, maybe not that. Maybe some show that was broadcast 20.5 years ago).
EDIT
Haha, I can see I'm not the only one thinking Futurama...

So, which logo gets there first ... Coke, MacDonald's or Starbucks? My money is on Coke. I've seen a Coke sign in a village half way up a mountain in the Himalayas that was only accessible by foot or donkey. That's more prevasive than anything I've seen from Rotten Ronnie or Starbucks.

Bookies have lowered the odds on alien life, now 100-1 versus the previous 1000-1.

They only give you a 1 year window. So if it isn't discovered by this time next year, you lose.

I was going to say I'd take that bet, but one year!? It's a big universe to search...
I'll give 101-1 odds, taking all bets.

Very interesting discovery, also shows really how far our technology has to advance to make space travel a practical reality rather than a risky venture. Then again we only know what they tell us...

Well, if they somehow recieved our TV transmissions at the speed of radio, right now they'd be watching:
The Cosby Show
Family Ties
Cheers
Murder, She Wrote
The Golden Girls
60 Minutes
Night Court
Growing Pains
Moonlighting
Who's the Boss?

They will be too terrified of Tony Danza showing them who's boss.

And getting exposed as aliens by some old grandma who moonlights as a sleuth. Wouldn't that suck.

what if there was like a speed limit...and it took twice as long to get there?
then they would be watching shows from 40 years ago...like original star trek.
they will be terrified of earthlings!
they will fear that kirk will be kicking their sorry galactic butts every time he comes across them (all within a 1 hour time slot (with commercials of course)) and then he will make out with and bed their women.
of course, they might wonder why there is only one big screen on the ship...
fear the earthlings!
