You're using the wrong unit of measure.

His most important move is probably to get a coach

A ton of important players have deals coming up. Do you trade them? Re-sign them? For how much and how long? Do we hand out letters to any of them? Lots of extremely important decisions in the short-term

Yeah Conroy needs to make his mark and most importantly, avoid any negative further spill over from last season into next, which may involve moving a player or two out. And this is all on top of finding the next, and hopefully long-term, coach for this team.
There are plenty of major items to take care of between extending or trading Lindholm, Backlund, Hanifin, Tanev and Toffoli and of course, the draft.

Francis speculating Andersson could be front runner for Captaincy. He or Huberdeau are who I’d have as my top options.

Responses around that Tweet seem to be re: Backlund…it surprises me how many people think Backlund will still be here. I don’t even think he’ll be here to start the season.

Andersson, Weegar or Huberdeau for me. I'd lean Andersson because he's been here a long time.

Oh yeah Weegar would be a good choice too.
I think choice 1 for me would be Andy. If this team is refocusing on building through the draft and internal development, having your Captain be a product of that development system seems key.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Yeah not feeling any better about Backlund sticking around after what I read from Sec214 today, even with Sutter gone.

My thoughts too. Conroy is going to make some pretty major moves with a couple of Swedes before this season starts.

I called that, the same day Sutter was axed. There would be more blood spilled. Sutter may have been at fault yes, but the layers who also ....I don't want to say mutineered ...but fought back helped create the environment. So I fully anticipate the likes of Backs, Tanev and Lindholm to he sent packing.
Sucks but I thinknits also the best way to clean the entire slate. Or at least as clean as you can possibly make it.

Not the worst thing IMO.
Changes are needed on the ice, and he is at the age now where sudden decline could show up at any moment.
He has been a trooper, but it might be time to move on, particularly with an expiring deal.

Flames players should have a lot of value considering everyone they trade goes on some massive run the following season
Flames can't pay a premium to bring back the same team that wasn't good enough...if guys don't want to commit to reasonable deals move them. Honestly you can probably still improve the team with spreading out the cap better anyway

cool to see Snow getting an additional title and good to have Pascall back too. Not sure about Nonis, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. People can be good AGMs but terrible GMs, right?
