Talk about me all you want...they shouldn't have made the playoffs. I looked at what it took to get to 96 points at the all-star break and said they wouldn't get there. Lucky for them everyone else choked

Heck I made $100 because the Flames finished higher

Was a goal called back? I checked NHL.com and it showed 2-0 (Stall, I think) but when I came back it’s 1-0.

They can get Bobrovski's name plate ready for the Conn Smythe.

I had them as a bubble team and potentially missing and that's what happened.

They backed in with the Penguins capping the bed.

The goalie is on a heater I wouldn't call a 1-0 win and two overtime games a beat down.

The commentary is just meant to say it's not only about making the playoffs. You have to have a team that can play playoff hockey once you get there.

People alluding to "that could have been Calgary" are missing the fact that we don't have anyone on this team that's even close to resembling Tkachuk, Verhaeghe, Barkov, Bennett, Montour, Eckblad or this version of Bobrovsky.

Heater is an understatement...he just set an NHL record for saves in the first 3 games. It's the best goaltending performance of all time in a semi final.

Florida is now 10-1 since losing game 4 to Boston.

Necas wasn't just bad in that game, he was HORRIFIC. It looked like he was actively trying to lose the game for Carolina.

Goaltending, they were being outshot 50-25 in game 5 vs. Boston. Bob saved their season. Flames would be very hard to beat with .934 goaltending.

.977 this series

Flames had 93 points with .800s tending

I haven't posted much even with the success of the Panthers because my dog Lucy had to be put to sleep early Sunday morning after 10 wonderful years with us. Severe congestive heart failure that we knew was coming for 3 years, but it started happening right after Tkachuk scored the OT winner in game 2. I'm going to make a more extensive post about this before game 4, but I am currently heartbroken and grieving intensely for the loss of this family member.

All I want to say about this is that this Panthers team has really figured out winning defense in the playoffs. Bob had more shots to face, but really didn't have to work that hard in this one. He was still very good when called upon, but the Panthers have seemed to figure out the sacrifice needed to keep good chances to a minimum, and then rely on Bob to help them out when needed. I would have liked to see more offense from the Panthers, but they were playing a desperate team and had to take care of their own end a lot tonight. Getting a PP goal was key, and it may mean a Stanley Cup final berth if they can close this out over the next 3 games.

It's really bitter sweet right now. I'm loving the Panthers wins, but I lost my best friend and companion for the last decade. Send your sympathy with a thanks if you wish.

Even if Boston didn't choke chances always were higher than not that Markstrom would be coming back next year.

It's like what Kiprusoff did in games 5 & 6 vs Detroit and 1 & 2 vs. San Jose in 04. Except he's done it for 11 straight.

This sucks. I had to do it with one of my dogs fairly recently and my buddy just did two days ago.

My other buddy’s Bassett is Lucy.

Sorta? There was a missed high sticking penalty on I think Gostisbehere, he goes down like he's been shot, runs into the ref, who blows the play dead due to injury. Then the Panthers score.

So then everyone has to figure out if the play was dead, if there's a penalty, or just what the hell is going on.

No penalty, inexplicably (although it could be argued that it should be offsetting, a high stick vs embellishment), but the play had been blown, so no goal either.

A weird sequence.

What are the chances for bottom seeds, again? To me it feels like we're reaching for "once in awhile" examples in a league with 32 teams. So to me "just get in" is a scary path for a team that isn't on a path to properly contending.
