If we are taking the bold move and moving guys out for picks (I really hope so but doubt it very much) then picking up Goodrow and a 2nd would be a fantastic move.

I don’t want bold moves.
I want a potato.

Some fan in twitter claims to have a source that states Lindholm wants to move on and won’t sign regardless. If that is the case it will be an interesting deal for Conroy to make. The tweet mentions Columbus as an option.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this is true.
Lindholm didn’t hold back at his end of year presser, and even before that Pat Steinberg had said on multiple occasions that he’s heard the organization isn’t optimistic about Lindholm re-signing here.

If true, Flames need to move him early in the offseason (i.e. at the draft)

Imo we would be giving them one of the best lines in hockey. Gaudreau-lindholm-Laine could be absurd. Alternately if you think Laine carries enough, then stick Chinakov or another young sniper with them and let Laine on the 2nd line.

If Lindolm is on the market, there’s going to be a long list of teams with interest. I suspect the Flames would ask for a young C in return. Perhaps Sillinger is a piece Columbus could offer up. Conroy would have a good book on him. Flames were rumoured to have liked him in his draft year.

There is no good earthly reason for Lindholm to want to stay here.
None. IMO.

Lindholm has no reason other than a massive contract and we already have enough of those with poor value. Free up some cap space and get a young piece of two. It's a no brainer. Exact thing they should have done with Tkachuk.

Lindholm doing Conroy a favour and making a hard decision easy for him.

Columbus would be a great trade partner, they have a lot of good prospects even beyond the likes of Sillinger and Johnson. Guys like Jordan Dumais and Corson Ceulemans would look good in a trade package.

A team like Columbus with their pick this draft and Lindholm would pretty much move into win now territory, so that's a trade I'd really like the team to make that might actually be possible.

re Lindholm: I find it hard to believe that he has decided to move on without....
1. talking to the new GM
2. seeing who his coach could be
3. seeing how much he could make.
I call BS. I believe he was fed up with Sutter. But everything has changed and hard to imagine you don't at least hear it out.

A player making a decision to move on isn’t totally out of the norm. A guy like him has perhaps a 15 year career. Of three or four involve a roller coaster ride it’s conceivable he’s seen enough and has already made up his mind. Perhaps he knows that and just wants a head start to the inevitable. It’s not completely out there. Once those thoughts creep in it’s hard to turn back. I’d say the same goes for backlund.

I think I floated something like this in a post a while back. This is perfect, as they aren't giving up Johnson any time soon.

This template makes alot of sense for both sides.
I think i'd prefer Boqvist over Marchenko though, as we don't have much for young Defenders and Boqvist has a top pairing ceiling as a right show D man.
Slim chance it happens but I would be trying to get Kent Johnson out of them.

Yeah, that's just it. It makes sense. The core group he was brought into and bonded with is all but gone (Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Benneet, Gio). Hes not from here, the guy who brought him in is gone, wasn't drafted here, there's been alot of turmoil recently, no consistent success, already been here 5 years and our perks (facilities, climate) aren't close to the top.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's thinking it was time for a change and wondering if the grass is greener.

Have to imagine Gaudreau would be selling it hard too. Cbj would still have jiricek and Johnson in addition to the 3rd overall this year among other amazing prospects, so it's not stretching their talent pool to make a move like this.

If Johnson was made available, and Lindholm truly wants out, I would do a 1-for-1 swap if necessary. Not gonna happen though.
