The tax burdens aren't that different though. First, you have the "jock tax" that all these guys pay. Basically if you play so many games in a state, there's a tax for those earnings. Then you have other levers like property tax, federal tax and that can even things out. And finally you have all kinds of tax planning and arrangements you can undertake to spread that tax burden out. For example, in Canada you can use things like RCAs (Retirement Compensation Arrangements).
So, without getting into the details here, you can rest assured that a guy like Huberdeau is paying almost the exact same playing here in Calgary as he would in Florida. And, if he's not, he should give me a call, because he's leaving a pile of money on the table.
Yeah, it's kind of over blown, It should be a less than a 3% difference between Alberta and states like Florida, Nevada, Texas and as of this year Tennessee if the players have a little restraint and good accountants.
It would be great if we could find a way to steal Klim Kostin from them. Great young player imo. Potentially a good fit with Kadri as he's got similar style to nichuskin.

Great young player? He is 24 with a career high of 21 points and mediocre AHL stats.

How's that?
All that aside he really does have the size and skills to become a proverbial "power forward" that every team in the league wants to acquire. Agreed the potential exists. So does the Russian factor though.
Those guys take much more time to develop and figure things out. Often not getting there until they are 25-27 years old.
Hard to believe Holland would give up on him right now IMO.

PPG?
Potential for what though? The poster said he was a great young player, 24 isn't really young and he seems to maybe have the potential to be a poor 2nd line player at best.
There is nothing about his play, nothing in his background to indicate he is anything more than a run of the mill 4th liner/AHLer.
Definitely don't want the Oilers to be able to fill the bottem half of their roster with players like Kostin. A great young player is probably a stretch. But solid and capable. I'll take him on the Flames instead
