Wtf is going on in here?
I mean, I wouldn't fixate on that posters proclamation, that was clearly absurd. But the general debate is interesting.

"what the Flames had" in Bennett was a player who was consistently worse than Sean Monahan and Mikael Backlund and therefore was not suited to play top-six minutes as a centre for a team attempting to make the playoffs. you can disagree over whether they should've been trying to make the playoffs but they were. and that's that.

I'm your huckleberry.

If Sam would have flopped in Florida? What then?

Was he still mismanaged in Calgary? And somehow would have been the player he has become, if he was never in Calgary? Some mythical other team would have extracted this performance out of him from day one?!

Something like that?

You sure chirp pretty loud about other people's opinions on players but your own opinions are to be held as some sort of gospel benchmark? David Jones? Philips? Any number of AHL players that you speculate on and pump up? Lol. It's been said many times if you don't like the commentary in the thread don't post in it. But you just can't do that, can you?

I don’t even know what the debate is.
He’s a good player who elevates in the playoffs to play a bigger role.
The arguments are provoked by those arguing on the extremes trying to exaggerate what he is or on the other hand suggest he’s a nothing player

Bennett may have been worse for Calgary but he is much better for Florida. He deserves it.

You are not making any sense.

He himself said the Florida Pannthers don't try to manage him, they just let him play. You don't see him being moved around, demoted in Florida. The guy is happy and playing some decent hockey.

I can't believe I still see people posting about Bennett's points, like that's the end all of all things. He puts god's fear into people and is a fireball on the ice and who can still contribute offensively. My favorite player after Barkov. Amazing talent? No but an amazing player.

The two highest drafted players by the Flames. In their prime, playing well, having playoff success. But for another team.

That’s why Treliving was a failure and I don’t miss him.

I’m definitely going to get one, likely the reverse retro. He’s not leaving the Panthers anytime soon, so it’s a safe jersey to purchase.

While I don’t necessarily disagree with your opinion, 4 goals in 12 games is a 27 goal full season pace.

Trev probably sees his chances of being GM somewhere else go down every time Tkachuk and Bennett have a big game. I am pretty sure ownership was not telling him to sign aging FA vets. He robbed Peter to pay Paul in favouring the short term reward of having that one extra player on the roster instead of paying his stars early. Except the players he chose like resigning Frolik or Brower or Neal just weren’t good and at the end of the day he didn’t leave money to extend Tkachuk or Johnny when he could.

Tkachuk should be doing all this for the Calgary Flames

Loyalty.. a foreign concept with these new kids

Now college loopholes are a standard rite of passage and if your bridge deal isn't flattering (rarely were until recently unless you were a top 10 type player) you can just say you want to jet and get your short list too.

There was a time when an nhl team (any) drafting you then graduating you was an honour and players treated it as such.

Despite it all I still like the guy, which is why it's especially frustrating
