Pierre also said he thought it was bizarre for the Flames not to allow Treliving to be part of the group to interview in the first batch with the Penguins.
Seems like there could be some hard feelings.

Can we get Tuch from Buffalo? I would have traded Tkachuk to Vegas for Tuch and a 1st and 2nd.

Treliving, in leaving the way he did, very clearly shone a light on the Flames organization and its wild levels of dysfunction.
It only makes sense that the organization act petty in response, because that’s what an organization that isn’t self aware would do.
They believe they’re a well run organization. They believe they’re so well run that they can’t allow Treliving’s expertise to enter the market prior to the conclusion of his contract for fear that he’ll reveal all their brilliant secrets.

It’s obvious sarcasm but this seems to be more par for the course given the draft more than anything. I don’t think it’s a dick move personally. He claimed he wanted time away. I’m firmly in the Jim corner but I get why the Flames here blocked it.

Murray Edwards pulls a Harold Ballard and runs the team himself.

I honestly don't think Buffalo would trade Tuch for much of anything right now, except maybe the first overall pick from Chicago.
6' 4", 27 years old, natural leader, works his butt off every night, fast, physical, 36 goals / 80 points last season, grew up in the area / fan of the team and loves being a Sabre. Oh, and signed at a steal of a contract ($4.75M) for another three seasons.

Fixed that for you....
The Tuch deal would be a massive overpay.

Not when Tkachuk was still recovering after being neutered by Gio and hadn't hit his 104 point season yet. that was in Nov 2021.
Of course it is an overpayment now.

Yeah it's really bizarre that the team wouldn't want to give a leg up to their competition......I despise the Flames ownership, but this is pretty standard stuff here. Nobody needs to be nice or do anyone a flavor in this situation.

Pretty sure you could've had Tage Thompson for a loose bag of pucks in Nov 2021 too. He had 40 points in 155 games to that point. 157 points in 146 games since. Remarkable turnaround for a player.

Sure but the Sabres were trading broken neck Eichel at the time and not Tage.
Tkachuk was coming off a 43 point season in 56 games.

Hoping it's Conroy.
Dude has always represented the brand with pride, is as competitive as they come, is smart and well spoken and deserves a chance as much as anyone in hockey.
