If they're able to, it might be the only impressive thing TBA has done.

If the UCP has shown us anything, it is that there is always a bigger idiot.

Even worse is they may find someone smarter than her. I wouldn’t trust her to organize a separation but I’m sure they can find a more compelling and savvy cheerleader.

The money backing the privatization of helathcare is not going anywhere. The vultures are circling, they will keep trying until they get their pay day.

So they'll find someone smarter to implement the exact same hard right policies. That's even worse

What does the privatization of healthcare really mean? Seems like a blanket statement like free healthcare. So will it be a few labs? A few clinics? Full blown everything costs money? How crazy is this idea?
Even Quebec, the Legault government, is planning on introducing more private medical care.

Well she's mused about giving hospitals over to private corporations to run. How can she do that? Well, see first you need a provincial police force, and then you can ignore Canadian laws or somsuch. She's said so much frightening #### lately, it's tough to keep track. But I think it is safe to say nothing is off the table.

Those aren't promises, they mean nothing at all. But still, privatizing surgeries isn't some magical money saving method.

But then, this should be kinda obvious.

despite in past federal elections the spectre of 'alberta style private health care' Quebec has, amongst the provinces, often been more in front of this (at least in some areas) than other provinces, moreso than Alberta

Quebec is planning on facilities that are basically urgent care. Between family medicine and the hospital. They aren't talking about giving their large hospitals to private organizations.
There's absolutely zero reason for Smith to even suggest this plan. Our new lab system is an absolute disaster in every way. Things are much worse.

This is really dependent on whether the plans are implemented. Smith may be talking a big game. If she does what she says, it's going to be a gong show.

Just because the UCP said they didn't want to talk about doesn't mean they are not issues.
|
What would this achieve? If Calgary is the battleground these are two issues that really don't matter to most Calgarians, there would not be much to be gained from this strategy.

I'm not in favor of this scale of privatization but the way you worded this made me think perhaps the intention is to turn the administration of facilities over to private business. That does not necessarily mean the delivery of health care will be privatized. Conceivably you can still provide public services inside a facility that is managed privately.

Like bloodwork, which has become atrocious since it was privatized.
