The Suicide Squad is not short on violence. Nor is Peacemaker, the series.

Anyway, Watched USS Greyhound, the WW2 Battle of Atlantic movie written and starring Tom Hanks. It was good. Tight 91 minutes of grey steel vessels battling with U-boats in the cold Atlantic waves and not much else. Felt kind of refreshing actually. Felt extremely true to life.

Would recommend.

I like watching these short youtube videos where experts analyze 'how real' movie scenes are and the Military professional that reviewed Greyhound gave a glowing review.

I think something along the lines of "not super exciting...but damned accurate."

It was a few years ago so I dont remember exactly, but I remember enjoying that movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may not only be the best of the franchise, but it's arguably one of the best superhero movies made so far. That was a great experience and I can't wait to watch it again.

Crimson Tide: I don't know why I slept on this film for nearly 30 years. Starring Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman with solid support from the likes of Viggo Mortensen and James Gandolfini. Very tense and comprehensive, it's comparable to the feeling you had on board the ship in Master and Commander.

It's currently available on Disney+.

1997's Cop Land gets a pass, but 1995's Crimson Tide is the line?

Soft & Quiet was an uncomfortable and intense watch. Just the way I like it.

I don't recommend trying to stream The Sound of Music. Because it vanished off Disney+ in April, and (at least in the US), you can't even buy or rent it off Amazon.

It was a Mother's Day wishlist item, so the $9 DVD arrives tomorrow. I guess physical media is still needed (if you're not a pirate)?

Guardians of the Galaxy, Logan, and Thor: Ragnarok are my favourite comic book movies so far.

I went to Guardians III in theatres and found it pretty rough... I went into it without watching previews or reading up on it on purpose. I just found it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute and forced for non-stop emotional tugs. It felt like 2 hours of a Telus commercial.

It was just so surprising, like a marketing team took full control. Maybe a 3/10 for me. I just felt like it was written for children solely. Kinda bummed out about how it was handled.

I think this is spoiler-free:
Peter and Gamora were okay, but then every other character was broken. Like personality traits and established restrictions were just thrown out the window. It didn't feel like character development, just a new take on it all with new characters for a new audience.

I didn’t care for Babylon. In theory it should be a good film but it didn’t get interesting or feel particularly well made until deep into the third act. I really wanted to like it but it didn’t quite click. Maybe with a better director and editor it could have really been something

I enjoyed it. I understand what you're saying. But I felt Brad Pitt and Margo Robbie owned that movie. It was worth it to watch them do their thing.

Okay, watched the Mario movie.

That was...stupid and ridiculous and I think I loved every minute of it.

That is a film that gave you a promise and made good on it.

I love Charlie Day, Jack Black is my spirit animal but I loathe Seth Rogan with a passion.

Still...if you played Mario as a kid its a solid 8.

Well played Mario...well played.

I wouldn't have said that there'd be anything weirder than seeing Mario's nipples but for some reason seeing Mario's hands was weirder.

As a movie fan Super Mario Bros isn't all that special, or even good really. But being a Mario fan does a lot of heavy lifting to overlook the flaws, and there's so many references packed into it I couldn't help but smile watching it. Overall I'm just really glad it doesn't suck, because my kids have had it on repeat every day since it showed up on my Plex server

One has to think this opens up the Nintendo cinematic universe as well now with how much money it made. I wonder if they'll keep it safe with another movie based around Mario, or if they go for broke with Zelda?

I had very low expectations for Fast X and they were not even close to being met. It very likely was written by AI but then again AI could probably do a better job than this crap. Just a bad bad movie. Best part is when the Jacob character decides to use the cannons on his car but instead of shooting the cannons at the baddies he points them down so his car goes flying into the other cars killing himself.

I wish people would stop watching these Fast & Furious movies so they stop making them, just makes me sad. Putrid garbage.

They're bad, but you can just not watch them. It's not like they're taking the time of in-demand actors away from making other movies.
