It’s only one poll but the trend he’s observing within his own data is kind of interesting. We will have to see if this “undecided movement” toward the NDP is replicated by any other pollsters, or if this starts to look more like statistical noise once more polls are released.
It would be interesting to see if UCP support is softening in the smaller cities. I've seen people saying Red Deer looks way more orange than in the past for example.

I really don’t think so. They might lose 10-15% but they’d pick that up in the middle pretty easily. There might be another 10-20% that dislike the new conservative party but would vote for them if the alternative was seeing the NDP win.

I wonder if Nenshi would consider leadership of the AP? I think it would revive that party immediately.

We do, but the UCP clearly had a sign drive in the last week and it is predominantly blue throughout.

I'm curious. To you, what are traditional conservative values? Like, what are the top 3 or top 5 things a conservative party could stand for to get you to vote for them?

Does know of a place where we can see each parties platforms in a list form? I was looking to see if anyone on the interenet has complied a list like this so I can maybe convince some staunch UCP voters that the platform they are voting blindly for isn't one they would actually want if you took off the " team colours". The websites of the parties all want me to click different links for each part of the platform and I am too lazy for that.

Those are usually published the weekend before Election Day.

I think it is too late for that and that it is a bit of a chicken-egg thing where it isn't worth his time to join the party at this point when it has no support and they need people (not just him) to join to get the support. Honestly I think the AP is dead they missed their chance.

Only chance any new party or the AP has is if a massive amount of current MLAs with big name recognition leave their party, likely mostly from UCP but could perhaps have some moderate NDP's as well, to join the party. Starting from scratch with mainly new people won't work. If a party like that was led by Nenshi perhaps they would have a chance, but the current structure of the AP won't work.

That’s how I feel. We’re both voting NDP but hesitate to put up their sign. I may do it three days before the election so my neighbours know how I’m voting.

Like who? They've hitched their cart to Smith, they are now toxic. And I don't even know who would be considered sane who is still left in the party. If the UCP lose, the whole thing collapses. I don't think there is any salvaging it, if there was even anything there to salvage. The entire legacy of the party is Kenney and Smith. That's it. A giant turd and an entire sewage treatment plant. Burn it down.

Interesting question - I’d say themes like individual responsibility, law and order, small government and pro-business. I’d also include fiscal responsibility, but it seems like it’s become an overused response to what “conservatives” stand for (and for which recent conservative parties don’t seem to adhere to).

You may be right, I didn't really look into it but I know in the last election I don't think the Alberta Party candidate in my riding- Lethbridge- even knew where Lethbridge was. You can't have candidates like that, they need people involved in the party that carry some weight behind them to give the party some legitimacy.

Maybe it would be people that left the party when Kenney took over or lost seats in the last election that could come back. I think there has to be some decent center based politicians in the province, and no I don't buy the myth that this NDP is a centre based party.

interesting polls the last 2 days. Mainstreet with a similar poll to the previous week, with a slight NDP shift. Abacus with a massive NDP poll.

I'd love to see a Janet Brown poll right about now...

That being said

I find it rather funny that people are looking to the AP as a conservative option, when based on their answers to the Vote Compass they are to the left of the ANDP.

i would suggest, "fiscally responsible conservative" is basically some sort of unicorn-like being

I think if the Alberta Party was going to ever be a realistic party in this province their current views are pretty irrelevant. They would need a massive overhaul.
