I would prefer to see Toronto lose the series in Toronto.

In triple OT, just to waste as much of their time as possible with no payoff.

Toronto defended well but didn't feel like Florida was on it today. I loved the end scrum, Bennett taking his pound of flesh

I disagree.

The Leafs completely sold out their offense by playing air tight defense tonight. It's not their common strategy, but they defended incredibly well. Blocked shots, battling for pucks, breaking up passing and shooting lanes...they did what they needed to on the road. It was a really strong defensive game, but they still barley won.

I want to reiterate a point I made after the last game. The only way the Leafs get back in this is with a few bounces and they got them tonight. We will see if they feel energized by their crowd on home ice or they crumble under the pressure.

I give them credit. They were desperate to win and it showed. However, I think you see a different game in Toronto on Friday. Nothing tonight showed me that the Leafs can win 3 more in a row.

winning 3 in a row is unlikely for any team

Leafs have probably been the better team in 3 of 4 though...if they win the next it at least gets interesting. Panthers can't really play the no pressure card if it gets back to Florida IMO.

You al most always need “bounces” in playoff hockey though. To win four in a row, you need more than your share for sure but on balance, not sure it’s fair to say the Leafs need more than their share over seven games.

That was some kind of bounce off the ref in the corner out to Nylander out front. Not put in cleanly either

Not easily replicable for sure

A bit of a random trivia thing, but it seems like this year had pretty good odds that a city could have both an NBA finalist and NHL finalist playing at the same time, which is actually pretty rare:

1994 Knicks (lost) Games 1-3 overlapped Rangers games 5-7.

2016 Warriors (lost) and Sharks overlapped almost entirely, cool for Bay Area but Oakland-San Jose is a bit of a stretch

1974 Bruins (lost in 6) Games 1-3 overlapped with Celtics (won) games 5-7. Games 1/5 (Tuesday) and 3/7 (Sunday) were on the same day.

I might have missed some (Boston had both in '57 and '58 too)...another fun fact is that Boston had an NBA/NHL team playing in their league finals 19 out of 22 years from 1957-1978 ('67, 71 and 75 being the exceptions) with 21 total appearances and 15 titles.

This year Boston teams were 1/2 seeds in each league. Same with Denver teams.

Kings and Lakers were both dark horse teams; the Knicks/Nets were unlikely to go super deep, but NYR/NYI/NJD meant all 5 NYC area teams were in it (I wonder how often that has happened).

And despite all that, it's the two Miami area teams - both 8 seeds (Heat not quite the worst record of playoff qualifiers) - who are still standing and 1 win away from their conference finals, on the backs of pretty impressive performances from their best players. The respective buildings are about 40 miles apart. Wouldn't be shocking to see either team still playing in June.

I love games 7, too. Not always if my team is playing due to stress.

Yeah, agree totally. If it's the Flames, I'd want to finish the other team as soon as possible.

Okay, so Luostarinen is clipped with a high stick and a penalty is called. You can see blood on his lip and the referee decides to only make it a 2 minute penalty.

Look, I know it's not supposed to be automatic 4 minutes, but realistically, it is. Call the game the right way refs. No favoritism goddam it.

It didn't matter anyway.. Ekblad still scores.

Early lead for the Panthers and the Leafs play nervous on home ice. Could be trouble.

Eh I wouldn’t call it a travesty, I’ve bled worse after flossing.

I'm not super upset about it, but it's just one of those things I've noticed. The refs have favored Toronto quite a bit in the series.

I don't understand why they need to call this kind of stuff. Just call the obvious ones. So lame.
