I feel like Houston or Atlanta would be a better fit for Snoop. The NHL should be hoping that both him and Reynolds can get involved.

A Snoop-Reynolds team would be perfect. Sens games with Snoop's edibles and Reynold's gin & juice.

For sure. Certainly wouldn’t want to introduce any bit of diversity to Canadian ownership groups.

I'm just talking about locality. If. you're talking diversity, the Weeknd would actually be an owner that makes sense for the Sens, though it would be a missed opportunity to not include Reynolds. I think Snoop not being from Ottawa would eventually kind of lose interest in the whole ownership thing. Do we actually see him spending a ton of his time in Ottawa?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Reynolds would be more in it for the long haul given his ties to the area/country. I'd put The Weeknd in that category.

If you show up at Bettman's office with a big cheque you can have a new team in one of those cities.

He lived in Vanier for a few years as a kid, and probably spent time here when he was with Alanis, who maintains a residence and has family here.
Probably not significant amounts of time, but as he's shown with Wrexham, he'll show up regularly and maintain a presence in the community.

I don’t know, I think the franchise actually for sale might be a better fit for Snoop (or anyone) than the make-believe expansion franchises that don’t.

Sure, I'd expect if you want an expansion franchise you probably have to wait until there aren't any for sale. But I maintain that once the Sens sell (and they will) if you offer Bettman et al. the Seattle fee + sports team inflation they'll ask you what you want the name of your new team to be, not kick you out.
And while I don't pretend to speak for any celebrities, I can imagine a world where a big name US celebrity would prefer to be involved with a team in a big US market vs a small Canadian market.

I'm hoping that no matter what with this deal, Snoop is able to find a footing within the NHL. His idea to improve grassroots hockey and grow the game for minority players is a large, untapped market within the US that could do wonders for the game with the funding he could provide.
Add in that he seems to love the game and has a personality to be out there for it. I'm pulling for him somewhere within NHL ownership

Also, if any owner is going to find out what it would be like to hotbox an NHL arena, it would be Snoop.
I agree though. Snoop is a smart and dynamic guy with good ideas. He would be good for the NHL. The Sens as an organization and Sens fans would likely be lucky to end up with him and Reynolds as owners.

I feel like Snoop himself isn't my biggest issue with that bid, it's the Los Angeles-based owner candidate who's maybe never even been to Ottawa before. I feel like those types of arrangements don't ever really work out long term (George Gilette and the Habs is an example) but maybe I'm wrong and the tide is changing as we've seen with English Premier League teams and such being owned by everyone from Qataris to Americans and everything in between. Perhaps that league has now priced everyone out and they're looking for what's next and the NHL presents itself at relatively bargain prices.

Yeah, historically celebrities weren't maximizing their earnings off their fame the way that you see today. It's really exploded, and now those celebrities that have enough to form groups (or join groups) and own sports teams are finding themselves in a world where there's 735 billionaires in the US, 63 in Canada, 52 in the UK and owning a sports team is the new cool thing to do.
I'm actually surprised the other leagues haven't rushed to expansion faster, and not surprised at all that we're already hearing the NHL thinking of doing it again. It's a tight club to own a sports franchise in a sea of billionaires these days.

Reynolds is out per ESPN. Reason is not given, but article says that Reynold's group asked for an exclusive window to finish the deal, but was denied.
