No. No he's not.
It's an odd dynamic that the fan base seems very down on this team (rightly so) but then a bunch of trade proposals over the last couple of days are wildly unrealistic and overvalue those same players everyone is down on.

Agreed, Hanifin is not worth Nylander, Flames would have to add significantly.
I know this is anecdotal, but Nylander doesn't do it for me at his price tag.
After this last year, I just desperately want the team to inject some kind of offensive vision and skill into the lineup. Nylander is far from a complete player, but he's definitely skilled offensively.
He's also been underused in Toronto, at times, as they have so many other offensive weapons.
If Nylander (a current 40 goal scorer) has any kind of chemistry with Huberdeau, it would transform this team.

I guess we’ll see, but young top pairing d men who are still in the early years of their prime generally to for substantially more than softer one dimensional wingers. And see above videos of Nylander shying away from the corners to illustrate my earlier point.
Did we ask you for your source when you said with absolute certainty for weeks that Gaudreau would return to the Flames?
Yes, I was asked and would not divulge. My source was solid, so solid even our GM believed it until the last minute. That info was also backed up by Frank Seravalli in a later report. I love how people keep going down this road. It turned out Gaudreau pulled the wool over many eyes, go harrass them about it.
Since we are asking for sources who is your source for him wanting to stay?
The way Lindy spoke on garbage bag day was as clear as day someone who had no intention on staying here. What is it about this team in the long term that would make him want to sign his last big contract here?
I don't have to give a source about him wanting to stay because I said I THINK he will stay. Hackey said he is gone no matter what. Why do I get #### on when I made the mistake of speaking in absolutes but it is totally fine for others to do so? So like everyone else I question the source and I get piled on for that too? F off.
it'll obviously depend on whether they want to be here or not, but I'd much rather try to re-sign Lindholm and Hanifin (if the money makes sense) and try to trade Toffoli instead. Coming off a career year and cheap contract next season, I'd imagine his value would be very high. Him being 31, I'd much rather cash in now than possibly having another 30+ player on a bloated contract going forward.

Noah Hanifin is not a top pairing defenseman on most teams.

Doesn't look great in those videos, but isolated videos are a poor way to judge both what a player does well and what they don't do well.
You can find examples of probably everyone in the league who has "player controller disconnected" moments.
When I watch him, I see him battling hard most shifts. And he's been more consistent in the playoffs than the other Toronto stars.
But I will acknowledge that I have my own bias. I was a fan of his father, and I've liked Willie since his draft year. And he's a Calgarian!
So I may have my own slanted view and blind spots.

I wouldn’t be opposed to him on the team, just not for Hanifin straight across that’s all.

I like Nylander and wouldn’t mind getting him. But I guess I’m personally in the mindset of wanting the Flames to hold onto their picks and develop them over trading them
On the Lindholm front and whether you re-sign him. You do not sign a player based on what he has done, you sign a player based on what he is going to do and if he brings value to the organization. Lindholm is a quantity the Flames are sorely lacking. There is nothing in the system with potential to replace him. He's a highly skilled two way center that can play up and down the line up in any role you give him, but most importantly, he can play on the top line. He still has a good six to eight years of quality play in him which would buy the team time to find another center to become the heir apparent. Until they find that guy, they need Lindholm more than probably any other player in the organization. Letting him walk for nothing would be a massive mistake. Trading him without first trying to get an extension done is also a massive mistake. The Flames need this guy and will have to pay him or they are going to suffer.
Center depth in the organization is kind of really poor. You have Lindholm, Kadri, Backlund as your top three and then a bunch of meh. Zary has potential to be a solid Backlund replacement, which makes Backlund expendable. Schwindt and Jones have potential to be a solid #4 center, given a chance. After that, the pickings are non-existent. So it's a matter of we NEED to retain Lindholm just to remain competitive and until we can get some centers with offensive potential in the system.
The Flames are on a downward trajectory. Paying Lindholm $8M+ is just a terrible idea for a player who will be 29 - 37 for the life of the contract. This is a perfect contract/player to trade for value. He's absolutely the Flames best centre right now, and a fantastic player. My favourite Flame since he was acquired, but he absolutely NEEDS to be moved for a guy in the 22-26 age range. He's the perfect player to turn into more assets that can hopefully become what he has been the last couple of years.

I don’t think it is a remotely odd dynamic. Fans of this team are down on Huberdeau, Markstrom, Kadri, (3 highest paid players last year) and Sutter. You do not see many posts suggesting those players are moved and getting a big return. I don’t think people are down on Lindholm, Hanifin, Backlund, Toffoli but those are players who all have 1 year left and based on the current age of the signed core it doesn’t make a ton of sense to lock up these veteran players to long term raises. The team needs to get younger and cap flexibility.
