Correct, especially if Detroit thinks they are smarter than everyone else and really covet that player.

late to the party, but:
- THAT franchise going from Kane/Toews to Bedard ... simply gross.
- would have prefered if Fantilli didn't end up in the Pacific either, but it is what it is. At least not Bedard, I guess.
- Weekes announcing CBJ dropping to 3rd and Daly showing the Ducks logo upside down ... amateur hour at best. Embarrassing.
- was never going to happen, but the Flames having a horseshoe for once would have been sweet. Oh well. Let's draft a hall of famer at 16, shall we?

Depending on who the Flames are eyeballing, trading down a few spots for a 3rd might not be so bad. There's plenty of gems available there.

NY would have a strong team no doubt, but I do not think it would be so lop sided.
The salary cap and roster space would limit how many people could end up on a team. So the more players that want to play somewhere, the less attractive it gets (do you want to make good money playing a top line role, or do you want to make league minimum on a farm team).
I also do not think every player has the same motivation and preferences in cities. NYC is great, but not for everyone. Some people like skyscrapers, some like acreages, some like sunny beaches. For others it might me wearing the logo you grew up cheering for, playing in front of your peers. Some people want to be the center of attention, some people want to be some place where nobody knows them.

Sure, great idea, let the small market teams develop players so the large market teams can scoop em up at the start of their prime

Isnt it that teams tank and players do not? Sure the team might get Bedard but the player might not be around to see it.

Let’s just see if this one can take a regular shift in the league first.

I wonder if the Blackhawk's owner does the whole Katz-McDavid marriage proposal at the draft with Bedard.

You don't remember the dynasty that the Habs were able to build this way in 50's and 60's?

The Foss does have a solution for the Tanking problem: Enforce the same laws that prosecute "game fixing" and "point shaving." In this electronic age, there may be a traceable trail of communications that could be used as evidence. I, for one, am sick of the lack of criminal prosecutions of white collar criminals, and, laws do exist for these kind of behaviors, that were meant to target organized crime.

What are people's thoughts on Otto Stenberg? I have seen him ranked as high as 17 and as low as 64. Sounds like the guy could be a sleeper to take in the second round.

Oh this is a monkey’s paw wish if I ever saw one; don’t know why you would even tempt fate with it. Now watch as the Flames draft second best player in draft, ends up hall of fame, he just refuses to sign with the Flames and they get the 48th pick as compensation.

I wouldn’t mind Matthew Wood at 16, seems like he’s ranked around our range but I think he will be gone. I can easily seeing him going top 5 in previous year drafts. There are going to be special players all around us, lets hope they pick the right one - really need a blue chip prospect here
