The problem is the NHL has a history of being shady about these kind of things. Here is a question, why is this such a secret draw? Why as fans are we not allowed to see the balls put in the machine and drawn? I mean if it is on the up and up what is the issue there?
I don't get it either, like they think the 5 minute countdown is more dramatic than showing the balls drawn, which they do later.
They could make a production out of it like the World Cup draw but the NHL has never been good at marketing.

Live? I’m sure there’s a good reason, not the least of which is it would make for awful tv.
They do have a video of the draw that is typically made available.
Also what’s the shady history? That is proven and not some weird fake moon landing conspiracy?

Hold on are people serious about the fixed lottery?
Why would any other owner agree to let some other team get Bedard and not them? If we are pretending the owners don't know what is going on, why does Bettman/Daly etc. care enough to risk their jobs/lawsuits/criminal charges? just to make sure one team wins the lottery?
And as always with these conspiracies how do they get everyone involved to stay quiet?
Apologies if people were just kidding around it can be tough to tell at times on the internet.

So about the Kevin Weekes spoiler(?)… After a commercial break, the broadcast came back with zero acknowledgment of the Columbus mistake. Bill Daly flipped the card, and sure enough, it was Columbus.
Let’s be really clear: The lottery happens before the broadcast. It’s not happening live. So Weekes giving away the Columbus drop doesn’t mean that something was rigged. Instead, it almost certainly means that he already had the list, and he just got ahead of himself on live television.
So stand down, conspiracy theorists. Or don’t, because having it play out this way while the big-market Blackhawks win the top pick is pretty much a worst-case scenario for credibility – especially when nobody on either broadcast even acknowledged it. But yeah, this is just the sort of mistake that can happen on live TV.

I’m not happy that Chicago won
But not because I think it was rigged

Oh I don't know, saying they don't manage games and then having one of their officials literally get caught on microphone because the building was empty?
Aren't they going to post the lottery itself later on? They usually do it seems to me.
Anyway, here's hoping Bedard pulls a Lindros because obviously #### the Blackhawks entire organization.

It's not TV-friendly. They draw four balls, then a nerd flips through a spreadsheet to find out which team owns that combo.
