True, but there is no indication that Tkachuk was insisting on a bridge deal or nothing. Tkachuk said he was willing to sign long term. Treliving said that bridge idea was something that worked for the team at that point and was decided on for cap reasons. Treliving also seemed surprised and caught off guard that Tkachuk said he wouldn't sign a long term deal last summer. There is evidence to suggest that a longer term deal was a possibility at one point and he was still in the long term plans.
The team also had leverage even if Tkachuk was the one insisting on the bridge. Let him hold out and play hardball. It was a different regime, but the Flames even did that with Iginla back in the day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Leafs take both away games and make it a best of three. They seem to play better away from Toronto.
Yep Panthers are 1-3 at home and the Leafs are 3-0 on the road. I wonder how many Leaf fans will be in the stands for the game. Should be a fun atmosphere. Sammy has to be better and the Leafs need to get more tips on Bob like they did on Vasi.
[QUOTE=Flamesfan05;8700039]No, the Panthers are not the favorite to win the Cup
They have Bob. He is playing well but just like Markstrom, he can turn into garbage in short notice.[/QUOTE Garbage like Jack Campbell would be a better comparison. Vezina Bob is back!
looking at their post season playoff success since 1989, you have to add the Flames to your list of losing losers.
It's a whole other thing to do lose after acquiring four #1 overall draft picks, including a generational player, and have the league have to charge the draft rules to stop other teams from repeated just try how bad you were.

The Leafs played better in away games in round one, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in round two. The Toronto playoffs atmosphere seems like a lot of pressure and not really an advantage. Getting out of it will hopefully be good for the whole team.
It would suck to see this be a short series. The hockey has been fun to watch. Wish they hadn't been set to meet until the conference finals.

I have no idea how you get reign from ray. Between this and the Winnipeg fan unable to count to 4 and me unable to make sense of pepsifree posts, I'm starting to doubt the intelligence level of us CPers.

Pepsi just a woke chatbot. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain
I have to say Tkachuk has had an amazing impact on the Panthers. Barkov is a great person no doubt but as a leader he needs help and Chucky has been a perfect compliment with his "no ####s given" attitude. Exactly what they needed.
Also Bob is serving crow big time to me. I don't think I've ever seen Bob the way he's playing right now, absolutely attacking the shooter and making Matthews et al. look ridiculous. No swimming in net, not loosing sight of pucks, just attacking. Wow. It's always been purely mental with him and I would love to know what flipped the switch with him because he has been unreal.
The aggressiveness on Florida seems to give the Leafs issues. Florida looks much faster. They have some brutal defensive coverage at times, but they put a lot of pressure on players when they dont have the puck.
It warms the ice cold cockles of my cold and dead heart that the Leaf's arew down 2 to 0.
The Panther's are deadly in capitalizing on mistakes. It feels like you make one bobble, one give away, one brain fart and its in the back of your net.
Were the Leaf's the better team yesterday. For about 45 minutes of a 60 minute game they were, but who cares, nobody will remember that. The Panther's don't care, they've completely stolen home ice.
Was Bob good, absolutely, but in the final 8 the expectation has to be that your goalie is going to steal a couple of games. If he can't do that you don't make the second round, period.
I don't think the Bennett play in the corner was suspendable. I hated the double cross checks in front of the net, but I don't think you can suspend for that.
Its kind of fun watching Steve Dangle losing his mind, his point that if the Leafs get swept in the second round, the first round win becomes meaningless, filled me with dark joy.
