Basically every city is a Democratic stronghold to some degree. Biden beat Trump by 13 points in Harris County and Democrats won the majority of State and Federal Congressional seats in the county.

Pretty well any city in the US votes Democrat.

In Texas - Democrats win Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. They also win some heavily latino areas in the south. They get smoked everywhere outside of that.

Houston has not had a Republican mayor since the 1970’s. Texas is actually not nearly as Republican as the stereotypes would have you believe. Sure the rural counties are, but Cruz nearly lost his senate seat to a Democrat and even the Biden/Trump vote was somewhat close. They elected a female Democrat governor (Ann Richards) in the 90’s.

Is there a full video of the incident? I'm also puzzled by the other people holding him down. It would seem that perhaps he was threatening before the takedown?

Reminds me of when people flip out on airplanes and the passengers mob up and take them out.

You don’t want to watch a 2-hour video presented with zero context from CP’s preeminent online media curator and tastemaker?

Weird.

Yeah, Kennedy is not a Democrat. He may try and run under that banner, but he won't get any support. If anything, Kennedy is proof there are nutbars at both ends of the political spectrum.

You know absolutely nothing about “regular folk”.

Homelessness and substance addiction are not things that can be fought by attacking or "being tough" on the homeless and addicts. They are the victims of systematic social problems, not the cause of it.

If you don't want homeless people on your streets, vote for better social services, fair wages, affordable health care and housing etc. If you don't want drug addicts on your streets, demand more humane drug policies, more treatment centers, affordable health care and housing so that people with addictions can start to get their lives back together.

In fact, you could look at what Finland has done, because it works.

Quote:
Finland is the only country in the European Union to see homelessness numbers significantly decrease.
[...]
Finland was an early adopter of the Housing First approach. Housing First ends an individual’s homelessness by moving them quickly into independent and permanent housing (a home) and then providing additional support and services as needed, and for as long as needed.

But housing comes first. The core and very simple principle is that people are better able to move forward with their lives if they are first housed. Housing First offers permanent, secure, non-time limited housing to people who are experiencing homelessness, with ongoing, person-centred support that isn’t tied to conditions. It ensures that when homelessness is experienced, it is rare, brief and non-recurring.

It is often argued that moving from a staircase system (where a progression from shelters to temporary accommodation and finally long-term housing is the norm) to a Housing First model is expensive. Whilst it’s true that upfront costs may be high, evidence shows that, in the long term, Housing First saves money.

Recent reports from Finland has shown that €15,000 a year is saved for every homeless person in properly supported housing, considering the cost that would be otherwise incurred through emergency healthcare, social services and criminal justice involvement.
Additionally; It's pretty great to live in a city where you don't have to worry about homeless addicts on the streets. Easily worth every tax penny.

Kennedy is such a piece of ####. Straight up anti science anti vaxxer. If you want to discuss how we flubbed covid, there's a lot of really good material to work with and base your argument on. He's just a bomb thrower tho, spreading misinformation. #### him.

I wonder why Kennedy is running as a Democrat, unless he’s just trying to disrupt the enemy.

I don't think the republicans have the monopoly on crazy anti-vax, anti-science messages. The pre-covid anti-vaxxers were more likely to be socially liberal, and a lot of them morphed into the anti-covid vaxxers.

For the record, it seems the rest of the Kennedy's are distancing themselves from Robert Jr.

I'd imagine it's his name.

Often people join the party that's popular or convenient to them.

I know reasonable, progressive, left leaning "Conservatives"

I also know a guy who's alt-right, make Trump look like a commie liberal hippie, yet is a "Liberal".

Realistically, and we're all included in this, a lot of us root for the political party whose team's jersey we were given first.
