Plus is just extends the fact that the Flames aren't rebuilding anytime soon.

They have an opportunity to cash in with picks and prospects with Lindholm and Hanifin.
Yes, they have an opportunity but right or wrong the message is clear that ownership is still in a win now mandate. I think he is an important piece you need to win.

Like if the LA Kings offer Quinton Byfield and Alex Laferriere / Francesco Pinelli for Lindholm then I'm taking the prospects and the cap space.

It's why it's hard to assess these things as bystanders, we have no idea what the opportunity costs of these things are.
Yeah, I’m thinking Lindholm will get the standard UFA offer of 1st plus prospect. I prefer they go for a swing on a good under performing player.

Miller would be a great add but he’s due for a huge pay raise… one we probably can’t afford.

With the age range of the team, yeah, they need a tad older players. Diamonds in the rough.

I honestly think it's reasonable value wise. Perhaps a slightly lesser prospect than othman. But hanifin has a cost controlled contract for one more season where Miller needs a raise. Familiarity with trouba from college.
Toffoli is a known quality producer and again cost controlled for next season.

I think you’ve got to decide on Tanev or Hanifin to be traded. Having both is a luxury, but I’d rather use one of their cap hits for a forward (free agent veteran on a 1 year deal) and grab a 1st in the process. A team like Buffalo could use Tanev, a team like St. Louis could use Hanifin.

If Tanev is traded:

Hanifin - Andersson
Zadorov - Weegar
Kylington - Stecher?

If Hanifin is traded:

Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Stecher

Personally, I’d rather Hanifin be traded. Tanev could likely re-sign for less for his age. Hanifin would command a lot more.

I'd move Tanev. It's tough because the Flames now have like 8 legit D men they can use but no cap to keep them all. Since we are embracing the youth movement, move Tanev, get whatever and let this D corps work through a season.

Decide at the deadline of Hanifin or Zads stays or goes.

Tanev should go. While a warrior and such - I don't see him in the top 4 long term.

As much as I like Tanev and Toffoli, they are ‘Win Now’ players.

Even with Hub & Kadri’s contracts, I’d prefer a ‘Win in a couple years’ approach.

The last thing this team should do is sign more long term commitments...(anybody wishing the Huberdeau contract could be a do over). If they can't make the playoffs again...there is no point in signing players who can't even get you in the playoffs...get as much draft picks as you can come trade deadline

Maybe it's just coming off the bad season but not in any way do I see the 30+ year pld core of lindy, kadri, huberdeau, coleman, weegar and markstrom winning anything meaningful over the next few years to make it be worth committing the next decade to that core.

Seems painfully obvious to me what needs to be done.

I guess next season will be a great revealer. I just hope the truth doesn't come out before its too late to adjust.

It's not ovenchin and croaby were talking about.

This is closer to what the sharks/wild did a few years ago.

Brent Kisio. HC of the Lethbridge Hurricanes… Some smoke.

Update: Not for the big club. Potential AHL?!
Update2: Just building lists… standard stuff.

They’re not touching Wranglers right now. They in it to win it. Love is a shoe in for a interview. The organization will make it mandatory.

On the GM front Reagan Carey-USWNT is the most interesting name I’ve herd so far that I don’t think is on many peoples radar. Joining Conroy of course.

Been denied to interview one candidate from a team outside the playoffs till after 2023 Draft.(No name confirmed but my gut think it’s … Shane Doan)
