Yes the Flames dodged a huge bullet there. I was kind of advocating the trade back when he was coming back but yeah, stay away. Absolute disappearance act the playoffs again like last year.

Verhaeghe actually gives it away to Brodie but it's Duclair following up with the quick play to Verhaeghe that sets it up.

You can scoff all you want but it's a good quick skill play by Duclair.

(And I don't think Duclair is elite or anything, he's a middle six winger that can produce in the right situation, but it's also why he only makes $3M)

Yes he has some hands and some skill but physically he gets handled all the time and is a liability in the defensive zone. Heck, even in the offensive zone because he can immediately lose the puck.

He got benched last year in the playoffs and already once this year. He wouldn't even be playing if Florida had anyone they could use. Especially now that Lomberg is down.

Well i dont think he is great defensively, but not terrible per se. Ive seen him do some good things in his own end.

But:

You touch on it right after though in that he constantly takes horrible chances/makes bad decisions with the puck....no matter where he is on the ice. Its infuriating and very much a perfect example of "all the tools, but the toolbox is in dissaray."

Last year he was great.....then just carried it into this past season.

Going to be interesting how Florida's energy levels are going to be going forward. Maurice basically plays 5D with Mahura taking the odd shift and 3 lines with the fourth line playing about 5min per game.
