The correct answer for them is to shut up and keep it internal, regardless if the season is over or not.

Not one player that I know of has said anything about Sutter publicly. If they complained in this “audit” that’s exactly when and where they should have done it.

That's outdated. Transparency is pretty important, and it's not like they're throwing Darryl under the bus, they're just explaining the dynamic between coach and players during the season so that everyone gets a better sense of what happened.

This isn't "loose lips sink ships" or "the thin blue line". This is a professional hockey club. No cone of silence is necessary for something as inconsequential and vapid as professional sports. Chill out.

Well the interview with Huberdeau today, no need for any of that. The Lindholm interview on garbage bag day, just say the usual cover all statements and go home. Clearly Backlund was complaining to Francis, just zip it.

Good lord, this is “blasting”?

“It really didn't click between me and Darryl last year,” Huberdeau told Bob Hartley on BPM Sports Radio in Quebec, as translated by Yahoo Sports contributor Julian McKenzie. “There were a lot of factors. There was a big difference in points between my last two years. And the style of play he wanted to play, it didn't fit my style of game...
"Having a new coach is going to help my game and my confidence, too."

Lindholm didn’t say anything on garbage bag day. If anything, you’d read his comments to be about Treliving and/or his teammates. And Backlund has earned his right to comment, he’s been a Flame forever.

Those are extremely weak examples. This is professional sports with adults in 2023. If you can’t handle someone saying “our styles didn’t” mesh or another guy avoiding mentioning the coach at all, I can promise you that the problem is entirely in your court.

As Cali said, this isn’t the military. The players aren’t subservient. I think we can handle adults speaking like adults without throwing a fit about it, no?

Tuned into watch the handshake line in the Rangers-Devils game, and heard the guys on the telecast say that there is some uncertainty around Gallant's future and that there is chatter the Rangers might make a change.

I don't know if he would be a fit. He seems to be one of those guys that have a short shelf life as well, but he is a big name.

Who pays these players? The owners and the org? Or the fans that buy tickets, merchandise and pay for TV subscriptions? This team currently has no GM, no coach and no captain and has an owner that doesn't issue statements to the fans or media and you think the players are out of line for sharing their feelings too? The team just committed the most amount of money ever given to players in the history of this org and it bothers you that they have opinions?

I think with the culture being rotten, the players should have leaked more publicly. It's what kept this parade going so long, if anything. If it was just minor disagreements you keep it in house but such a crap culture should've been exposed a long time back.

Anyway, I really like Maloney's authenticity as others have said. It wasn't cliches. He really elaborated and went the extra mile to be professional yet accommodating and that should be commended. If I were an employee I'd be really happy to see someone at the top like that. Normally it's lip service from that level. Anyway, I think it's clear based on even his comments, that ownership thinks they have a winner. I think otherwise as they don't have the speed generally needed, but I'll leave that to another discussion.

Please no. No more old boys club coaches please. We have a two time AHL coach of the year in the pipeline

Well, as soon teams are allowed to decrease pay for a players lack of performance or just terminate their contract based on performance they should show respect and professionalism.

A guy who has never made it to the end of a third season as a team's head coach is not what this team needs right now.

I don't think getting coach who keeps getting fired would be the way to go.

We need some stability going forward.

So if you are an all star winger and sign a big contract with a new team and are by the way still being paid on your old contract for much less at the time and your new coach puts you in a position you're not as strong at, expects you to play in a manner that doesn't compliment your skill set and publicly insults you the team should be allowe to punish you financially if your performance dips? But you shouldn't be allowed to complain?

Darryl is this you posting?

So Paulie has surely had his best day ever, now that he's gotten his way and Sutter is riding off into the distance. But will he be able to find something new to harp on all summer in his quest for the all time post leader?

Maybe, but why does there always seem to be an excuse for reasons players played well and when people bring up reasons players played poorly it is always dismissed as all Sutter?

We have no reason to think that they played well thanks to Sutter and because they were in a contract year.

Weak minded players can't complain about that a work environment is toxic?

But I am sure the Flames will spin it in the way that protects them and the mediocre players they plan to keep and build around as much as possible.
