I assume this is about Kadri and Huberdeau. I haven't heard that they were behind this at all.

This is a serious suggestion? A player coach? I think the last one was in 70s.

Cool. Let’s have a decent year then tune the new coach out again in 2025.

Half serious, only because I don't think you can under the CBA
And why not? He's still a good player and I think he's a solid guy to transition to coaching.

If all of those players could be moved to contenders by the trade deadline... except Zadorov because he's freaking awesome.

Lewis made $800,000. $50,000 over league minimum. You can't have an all rookie fourth line or penalty kill.
Edit. Though I do agree, the team needs to get a little younger and more skilled.

Probably because it’s the NHL and no professional sports franchise in any professional league does this because it doesn’t work?
My hope is they chose a coach with an actual track record of coaching.

The assistants should be fired as well if we are getting a new GM and Coach we need them to bring their own vision and guys.
I have always hated how this organization likes to help with hiring assistant coaches, let the coach pick his guys.
A complete fresh start.

Wasn't Dave Lowry an assistant with the Flames and stepped in as a player during playoffs in the first decade of this century?

Right? So getting younger and skilled means moving on from the Lewis’s of the world. It’s a good thing!

Someone has to sit in the press box though.
I wouldn’t mind if it was Lewis

Ahh don’t. We don’t know the dynamics. Maybe he was offered and like Tre said forget it, I’ll do something else. Like farm.
It happens and DS will always have 2 cups for a legacy.

He was a player and stepped onto the bench as an "assistant coach" when he wasn't playing during the 2004 playoff run. He retired after that season and/or during the lockout and began coaching with the Hitmen in the 05/06 season.

What kind of track record do you want? I'm not suggesting HC. Just a lower level AC. Lots of players go right into coaching as an assistant.

This team has had a bajillion coaches in a short period of time. From rookie coaches, retreads and future HHOF coaches... I haven't done the math but do Flames coaches last longer than two seasons on average?
