I'm going to miss some of his pressers. Not the ones on game days. But between games, the guy can be hilarious and must watch.

Wow. Wanted but absolutely not expected. I'm wondering if they promote Mitch Love.

So much for all the BS that ownership chose Sutter over Treliving.

Seems like it was more than just the coach with Treliving unlike what some “insiders” lead us to believe.

I guess the $900mil from the city and province make it easier to eat $8mil on a terrible contact extension.

$8 million left on the contract. How much is covered by the City and Province. Build a library instead.

Am I CP'ing correctly?

I don't think there's a lot of Sutter clone's out there worried that their approach won't work in that room. Everyone knows what Darryl's all about and while he's a very good head coach his player relationship skills are way out of date. The move was made not only because of the players on the roster but the optics in regards to players around the league as free agency or trades that likely crossed the Flames off their list as long as he was the head coach. Sutter was way too high profile this season for the wrong reasons and players talk.

I do think most insiders said that ownership gave Treliving the option to fire Sutter if he re-signed with the team.

I hope they bring in a trustworthy development coach. Quenneville? Dunno but I hope it’s not another hardass or pushover. Has to be a respectable leader.

Honestly I don't think it was just the players...

Based on what I heard the last couple weeks it was other coaches, and people up and down the chain of management too.

And really all this "the players quit on the coach again" talk is non-existent. Only Backlund and Stone remain from the team coached by Gulutzan. Peters wasnt' fired because players quit on him, neither was Ward. And I actually don't think anybody quit on Darryl this year (maybe Kadri), they did what they were asked they just didn't finish / get saves.

I am tired of the coaching carousel with this constantly underachieving team however i did not want Sutter "coaching" the young players, extremely short leash and no patience is not a recipe for success. Love seems like the logical fit given his work with the Wranglers. no coach with the initials GG please. Gilbert and Gulatzan were enough

Perhaps the GM search is maybe further along already and feedback has been one sided as to whether new guys want Sutter or not.

I think we will go with Love and I like it as this could be a transition year with this team. We are going to need some of the Wranglers players to get promoted so why not their coach too?

He will be cheaper to sign to while we pay Sutter so my guess that's what the owners will want.

Love makes sense but a lot of the fan base may view him as a way to save money.

Keep Huska, has done well with the defence for the past few years.

Not surprised at all. As I mentioned months ago there were a ton of players that were tired of Sutter's antics. I'm excited to see who they bring in (Hoping for a Huska or Love promotion) and the potential bounceback from guys like Huberdeau and Lindholm
