The Bruins obviously need Dan Vladar back.

The team also wouldn't commit to Tkachuk when they signed him to the deal that walked him to where he is today.

This is a good thing. Learn to love it.
Especially bizarre since the most success Calgary has seen in decades is exactly the scenario he's complaining about. Odd.

If you think the best we can be next year is a bubble team and then a steady decline there is no reason any sane fan would stick around for that so feel free to gtfo. Go cheer for the Oilers, seems like a good fit.
You can be a fan and realistic at the same time.

The Flames needed to rebuild badly last year and had the perfect opportunity.
They chose not to.

Sure we can hope that Hubby rebounds. But the odds suggest otherwise.

Our best bet on a rebound is goaltending, as it’s hard to imagine it getting worse.

Fair enough but I still think both the team and Huby can both improve. I don't think things are that bleak. I do think Sutter is the wrong fit for this roster though.

So, you were both wrong lol.

You guaranteed it, and we’re willing to bet leaving the board on it.

Query why Bennett wasn’t given a good opportunity.
I think Tkachuk wanted to be a UFA. The money would have been there regardless.

Bennett had two or three centres in front of him at any given time and just seemed to spin his wheels. On paper, playing him with their other supposedly skilled first rounder and a guy who scored a bunch in the league seemed sound.

I don’t actually care why either left at this point. They aren’t Flames. I concern myself with moves to come and the present team.

Huberdeau will rebound. Maybe not 100 pt but he will be better

The only rebound with goaltending is if they are going with Wolf. There is no chance for Markstrom to be better. He is not mentally up to it. Not at 34.

May I suggest we don't litigate the trade thing again in this thread.

Sure they could, but I think the odds suggest otherwise.

I’m not willing to say it will happen, just like I’m not willing to say it won’t happen.

But I am willing to say it’s not likely, based on the Flames poor cap situation, their age of their core, their pending UFA’s among their core, and their average prospects.

A lot is bet on an undersigned goalie who has been golden in the AHL.

I guess that is why BT left as well, because he had the same belief right up until the last hour. Yes, something changed at the final hour that made me wrong. That was my first time sharing inside info from a source I had close to the situation and the backlash I took and still seem to take means I will never share info again and it probably puts off anyone else doing so either. I guess it's too bad nobody took that bet huh....

Huberdeau doesn't create offence, he contributes offence. I don't know how he's going to bounce back if he has no one out there creating something he can contribute to.

I didn't realize this before, but Florida has 3 of the top 4 picks in the 2014 Draft. They just need Draibaby to sweep the top 4.

Hey, as it turns out, Flames and Bruins end up with the exact same number of playoff series wins in 2022/23.

Sports are weird like that.

A result that further defines what the NHL is today and the inherent random nature of the game/league.

Same league where an expansion team made it to the Finals year 1.

A year later a team in last place halfway through the season wins the championship.

As previous posters suggested, Boston’s season was littered with good fortune. They were far from the best regular season team ever… I actually don’t think they were all that different than the team a year ago. The Flames were kind of on the other end of the ledger… had they made the playoffs, under Sutter and without much pressure they would have been very dangerous.

As I write this, it’s looking like the other expansion team is about to take out the defending champs.

You really think that Bennett or Duclair were the creators on that line?
